English Department Tutor (Former Employee) – Grambling, LA – September 22, 2017
As an English Department tutor, a typical workday was relaxed and enjoyable. I learned about the deep, profound, and unrelenting nature of the human spirit and its desire to learn. Management was always encouraging and embraced the totality of individuals-- body, mind, and spirit. The culture was empowering and transparent. The hardest part of the job was processing mixed messages from top faculty members. The most enjoyable part of the job was assisting international students pursing their American dreams.
The pros were a global student population and limitless networking possibilities.
As a northerner, there were certain social realities having to do with residing in the deep South.

The job was not that hard to me because I love doing research in the lab and I understood the long hours that needed to be put in to making my research productive.

I loved working at my alma mater. I gained valuable experience by working in the department of educational leadership, and even though I was not an education major, I was prepared to become a leader even before I was aware of my own potential. I would definitely recommend students, employers, potential employees to check this university out and give them a chance, it will change your life for the better.
