Front Desk Agent (Current Employee) – Asheville, NC – January 5, 2016
Everyday i am pretty much doing check in's to the hotel, greeting guests, telling them about Asheville and what it has to offer. Tell them about all the restaurants and breweries etc. i'm assisting guests with extra pillows or blankets, toothbrush. Whatever is needed to make their stay more comfortable. In the time i have been working there, i have learned so much about computers, and different clientele of people, and how hospitality really works. Management could be better in certain areas and different, but when working for a corporation, you shouldn't have high hopes, because you will only be let down. The hardest part of my job is the people. Some people treat you like you are nothing, and that you have no feelings what so ever. It can hurt, people have screamed at me over bed types etc, small things. But they are not always bad, the best part about the job is also the people. But the good ones. Example, guests checking in that are celebrating their anniversary, i send up a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate and they are so thankful. The ones who are thankful for the little things. Those people i like allot.
Vacation time, Marriott discounts etc.
when you are short staffed, you work all the time it feels like.
