Field Manager (Former Employee) – San Diego, CA – February 9, 2016
Grassroots Campaigns was a canvasing job which represented UNICEF. Everyday before going to sell we'd break into groups. I was a Field manager soon after my arrival at Grassroots and I was successful in the role.
Canvasser (Former Employee) – New York, NY – December 1, 2015
Great entry level job for individuals looking to start an activist based career or a career in politics. A learning experience for individuals who have never had to speak to a stranger about political issues.
Hectic work environment with a lot of work-related traveling
Field Manager (Former Employee) – New York, NY – November 17, 2015
Stressful work environment because you are always in the field (rain, sleet or snow) canvassing politically targeted communities asking for timely donations. Your pay depends on how much funds you can solicit...you get paid a sort of commision ultimately. Although I was pretty good at getting donations from canvassing communities, I felt like a nuisance to the majority of people...which is understandable considering that I'm ringing their doorbells at 4 in the afternoon giving them an overview of what the American Civil Liberties Union does and why we need their money. In short, this was just not the type of job I was interested in keeping.
