Field Organizer, Denver, CO - November 17, 2017
Green Corps is an intensive, year long, top to bottom training program in environmental organizing and campaign management. You get trainings on everything from how to petition to developing the goals, strategy and tactics for a campaign, to fundraising, working with media, digital organizing, and leadership development. You also get hands on experience running and managing your own campaign with different environmental organizations, so you get to see how lots of organizations work and their approach to social change. The program is hard- you'll work hard, you'll be really challenged, and it's not for everyone. But you also get the best learning experience possible. Having moved on and worked at several other environmental organizations since I did the program, it's crazy how little training and support some of my colleagues have had since starting their career. Things I learned in my second month at Green Corps, they never got taught in 5 years of organizing. If you're serious about starting a career in environmental or social change, politics or organizing, you'd be extremely lucky to be selected for this program. It's a hard year and people complain about that, but the experience and opportunities for career development is unparalleled.
