"At Greensboro Academy, we're in the business of achieving excellence," says principal Rudy Swofford, ",excellence in academics and moral character. We believe that all children have the potential to achieve great things in both their own personal development and in the community around us. We work hard to address the needs of each child and partnering with parents has always been an integral part of the success of our program. We provide strong character development lessons and opportunities, a warm and inviting learning environment, and rigorous academic programs taught by a dedicated teaching staff. I think this is the ideal place for a solid foundational education! As a parent myself of four students, I invite parents to look into becoming a part of the Greensboro Academy family and join us in achieving excellence."
Greensboro Academy is a public charter school located in north western Greensboro, on Battleground Avenue. It began operation in 1999 with six grade levels. Since then, the Academy has added a grade each year until it achieved the goal of building the finest kindergarten through eighth grade program available. Greensboro Academy takes pride in the back-to-basics approach; emphasizing phonics, math essentials, and specific content that follows the Core Knowledge Sequence (for history, science, literature, and other subjects). The middle school students benefit from the strong foundations developed in the lower grades, both academically and morally. All the students are continuously challenged to apply what they have learned in the previous grades, and strive to reach their own potential. With such a strong program, dedicated teachers, and a safe and disciplined atmosphere, it is not surprising that over 96% of our parents have repeatedly said they would recommend this school to friends and neighbors. – less–ZoomInfo
