GUC provides electric, water, sewer and natural gas services to the City of Greenville and 75% of Pitt County. We serve a combined total of more than 135,800 customer connections. Greenville Utilities is owned by the citizens of Greenville but operates under a separate charter issued by the N.C. General Assembly.
Greenville Utilities Commission seeks to fill a Gas Systems Coordinator position. The successful applicant will perform technical and specialized duties in the planning, design, enhancement, installation, maintenance and repair of instrumentation, hardware, software, and historical data for the gas distribution and liquefied natural gas (LNG) peak-shaving facility Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems; project management for small to medium scale projects related to SCADA systems; and providing technical support to Gas Systems Technicians for gas systems maintenance activities.
Also included is performing technical engineering duties in the planning, design, enhancement, and maintenance of Gas Measurement & Regulation, Liquefied Natural Gas Peak-Shaving, and Cathodic Protection Systems; includes plans, specifications, and other related records maintenance; producing technical documents and correspondence with internal and external resources; and evaluating and making recommendations on proposed engineering specifications, drawings, budgets, and the purchasing of equipment.
The successful candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able work independently as well as in a team environment, and be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers, standard office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and Microstation. Also desired is experience in a public utility setting in the utilization of SCADA software tools such as GE iFIX, Wonderware, and RSView; SCADA servers, computers, workstations, view nodes, GFCs (gas flow computers), and iHistorian databases; ethernet wired systems, wireless & cellular modems, fiber optic cabling, and licensed frequency radio systems; programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and remote terminal units (RTUs).
Requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and B.S. degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of training, experience, and certification will be considered. Salary commensurate with education, training, and experience.
