This is the horrible place to work with. They will let you go if you make a mistake even when your new to the company. They only care about themselves and not their employees. They bully their worker mentally and they believe that they are doing you a favor by giving you a job with the company. I did learn something that I can use in my career.

That place is the definition of Insanity, repeating the same behavior and expecting different results!!! At any given moment the owner is either bully you or one of the other co-workers. No one is safe.
Pros
Free Lunch/Great Co-workers
Cons
Too focused on Sales and not enough focus on developing the product.

The clothes and designs are fabulous...owner is bio-polar along with management which eventually sucks the retail fun out of you....promised one thing and was told while on vacation that what was agreed on during interview could not be met (via text).....wish it were different as the designs are amazing!!!!!

such great potential for a company. great product and unique design, but management dynamics are unusual, messy, and scary. you never know what to expect when you come in. things can change mid-day or overnight. wish it was more stable. lots of finger pointing. small organization so you get to see all aspects of business. team oriented.
Pros
nice office and warehouse in same location
Cons
very poor management style

Small fast paced company with lots of possibilitites
Accountant (Current Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYJune 28, 2016
Gretchen Scott is a small yet fast growing company. I started working in Accounting and now I manage Human Resources and the office in general. I have taken on many additional tasks which keep my job interesting and busy. The owners take care of their employees. Its a close knit family environment. You get to see how the company runs from a design on a computer to production sampling to the sales team selling on the phone and at trade shows. The open office makes Accounting work somewhat difficult because of the noise. But we do have an outside garden in back I can go to for some peace and quiet. Overall, its a great place to work.
Pros
Weekly lunch, benefits, lots to learn and to be challenged
Cons
Not so great location, 1/2 hour lunch, open loud office

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYApril 7, 2016
Much like a "start up". Must be able to wear a lot of hats - "job descriptions" don't exist per se, as the company is growing & fast paced. Great place to learn. Must be flexible.
Pros
Good benefits. Easy commute from MTA. Open office environment.
Cons
Not in NYC. If inflexible, this is not the place for you.

Warehouse Employee (Former Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYApril 5, 2016
Company is small, so owners are willing to let you get involved in different areas. I loved the people I worked with. Great benefits - medical, 401K, bonus. Wednesday catered lunches when entire company meets to review business.
Pros
Great benefits, close to train, able to learn alot
Cons
Must be willing to do a variety of jobs, not just warehouse work in my case

Fun but demanding.
IT Director (Current Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYNovember 1, 2015
-The Designer works harder than anyone else. She is very demanding and has high expectations. She wants things done her way. Can learn and thrive there..

-Weekly lunches are a bit drawn out but useful to know what everybody else is up to. Contests sometimes include very good prizes (expensive theater tickets)

-There is typically at least one dog there.Sometimes workers bring in their children. There is a small play area so some days kids dogs workers running around.

Open Office so lots of chatting all day.Hard to have privacy unless one goes downstairs to the private office set up for phone calls etc
Pros
Fun interesting coworkers
Cons
Rigoreous Standards

Growing small company with the pros & cons that go along with it
Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYJune 30, 2015
Relaxed (but bustling) work environment with smart / likable coworkers.

Pros are those that come with a small company: plenty of opportunities to take on new roles and responsibilities; room for career growth; flexible work environment; "start up" atmosphere with weekly company lunches / snacks / music playing; close to Metro North / easy commute.

Cons include those that come with a small company environment: less structure / hierarchy (not all consider that a con); management team with high expectations / time constrainted; longer days as needed.

Must have a flexible personality with the ability to juggle priorities & shift gears as required. Has been a perfect fit in my case.
Pros
Great benefits, room for career growth
Cons
Shifting priorities (if you consider that a con)

Graphic Department Assistant (Former Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYMay 4, 2015
Have 2 dogs walking around the office. One of the dog pooped and peed in my working space, I am the one cleaning it (3 times in 4 months).
The owner yelled at employees all the time. She is a very demanding person.

Paid by Hour, but expect employees to work overtime without paying OT hour
Cons
Short Breaks

Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYMay 4, 2015
Terrible environment to be in, dog dropping all over the building, constant harassment, unsafe work environment, unpaid overtime, the list goes on and on. The "designer" is by far the worst person you can ever meet.
Pros
Free lunch on Wednesdays
Cons
Horrible work environment, Free lunch comes with mandatory hours of nonsense talking, Dog droppings everywhere

Textile/ Graphic Designer (Current Employee) –  Mount Vernon, NYJanuary 2, 2014
Great work atmosphere because of great co-workers. Easy commute for those in Westchester, Conn or Manhattan. Not a great place for beginners because you really have to know what you're doing. There are very few late nights and the owners are pretty good about time off.
Pros
Free Wed gurmet lunches
Cons
If your allergic or not a dog lover this isn't for you. No places nearby to purchase lunch.

The employees are great, you meet a lot of characters (good). The actual company owner is great, the "designer" is terrible, i've never met a worse person in my life. Talks about being all righteous but acts quite the opposite.
The environment is terrible, it's cold, they're dogs in the office and they "go" everywhere. They eat from the plates in the kitchen. It's gross.
I learned a few things, probably could've learned them elsewhere. When you need $, you tend to stay and put up with that.

I wouldn't recommend it.
Pros
holiday party, xmas bonus, free lunch on wednesday
Cons
terrible work environment, free lunch comes with 3 hours of owner talking, dogs
