Great place to work
Patient Access Representative (Current Employee), Tukwila, WA – May 2, 2013
Pros: advancement and yearly incentives
Cons: seniorty list and vacation holds.
A general overview of my job, is that we work hard with scheduling patients and creating a standard work flow. Our goal is to have a one call resolution.

I have the best management team, they are always there for you when you need and helpful in room for advancement.

My coworkers are the best, its like having a home away from home when coming to work – more... and seeing them.

Hardest part of my is when our nurses are giving patients push back and they get into the cycle of not being helped

I enjoy every part of my job, because it constantly changes and gives me room to grow. – less

Serious?
Nursing (Current Employee), everywhere – April 25, 2013
Pros: the coworkers really try, its the upper management who micromanages everythign!
Cons: everything!
This place is seriously the worse I have ever worked in. I am reading the reviews and thinking. This has to be something upper management has decided to write, to protect its image. Anyone who feels cared for here: it's all about the money. The reviews don't mention the over worked, pulling double flowing because not enough staff. They are making huge – more... changes to get as much money as they can!
I am surprised anyone said anything about working through breaks, disgruntled co workers and some who quit because of the job stress. please... stay away! – less

Medical Technologist (Current Employee), Tacoma, WA – March 3, 2013
Pros: lab coats are provided.
Cons: really late breaks when busy. sometimes miss breaks.
I learned to work as a generalist. Co-workers are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Management is good. Hardest part of the job is working alone and no backup instruments. I enjoy my job and co-workers.

Great place to work
Home health (Current Employee), Seattle – February 17, 2013
Pros: good pay, great management, great benefits
I really love my job but the people I work with are very cold, I feel that I spend almost more time with my co workers than I do with my family. My manager is awesome, but the nurses I work with are not even work friendly, gossipy, especially when you are a upbeat, good sense of humor type of person. It is really hard to move up or move to another position – more... within the company. People outside my department are very friendly. I love getting to know everyone I meet and always introduce myself. But the hardest part of my job is trying to make my co workers open up and let go a little bit. There is a way to be professional, do your job and have fun, but they do not know how to work this way. But really, I love group health and just hope in time they will love me the same way. – less

The anticoagulation management department has highly trained professionals who work together well. The work is challenging and very absorbing.
Staff Pharmacist (Former Employee), Seattle, WA – February 4, 2013
Pros: 6 weeks of vacation every year.
Cons: restructuring and lay offs
The department rotates responsibilities for new referrals, procedure planning, and INR dosing between 6 pharmacists who are responsible for the high risk patients. The department is also staffed with both RN's and LPN's. Their patient population on warfarin is about 7,000. They also manage patients on epoetin.

The referrals involve pulling together – more... patient information relevant to the patients anticoagulation diagnosis and potential sensitivity to warfarin dosing, then educating the patient about warfarin and giving them a dosing schedule if necessary.

The procedure planning involves working with both the surgeon and the primary care MD to determine the embolic and bleeding risk; developing and sending a bridge plan for MD approval, and educating the patient regarding the specifics of the plan.

The INR dosing uses the most personnel resources. Determining an appropriate dose, checking for relevant changes in diet, meds, health, and activities, and checking for signs of bleeding or clotting is done with every patient, with documentation done if at all possbile while talking to the patient.

The documentation is the most difficult part of the process for me and caring for the patients who are at high risk for having an embolic or bleeding event is very rewarding. – less

RegisteredNurse – November 19, 2012

I found GH office environement to be stiffling. It has very traditional roles between nurses/docs and nursing supervisory management seemed divided in how to manage. This to me added to the workplace confusion. Welcoming new nurses seemed "surfacelike" and those long term nurses seemed to be regarded as ongoing favorites and those with physician respect; not open to new nurses at all. I was dissapointed and found more meaningful employment.

Group Health offers excellent wages and benefits for employees. There aren't alot of opportunities for advancement as turnover is not that high.

Temporary work assignment in alcohol dependency unit in the hospital
Administrative Specialist (Former Employee), Bellevue, WA – October 7, 2012
Pros: helping others
Cons: seeing repeated same faces fighting a hard battle w/chemical dependency
I learned about alcoholic dependency and had to read confidential chart history and medically transcribed Dr.'s notes. I prepared for patients arrival by making sure clean bedding was available, helped to admit and check out patients. got along well with coworkers. the hardest part of the job is watching someone being admitted and their suicidal, the – more... most enjoyable is seeing someone leave with a new viewpoint on life. – less

Family Oriented enviroment
Clinical Care Assistant (LPN) (Current Employee), Cincinnati, OH – August 8, 2012
Pros: the ability to learn different departments
Cons: not being able to work multiple departments at once
A typical day at work for me consists of triaging critical calls, assisting pt's with medication refills, lab orders and furthermore connection with community resources when needed. My relationship with my co-workers feels family oriented where we all have good and bad days. I am the "go-to" person when it comes to providing medical advice regarding – more... a patients current health status. The Hardest part of my job is getting patients to go to the Emergency Room when necessary. The most enjoyable part of my job is the challenges that I face daily not knowing whats going to come through my phone line. – less

Supervisors
Patient Access Representative (Former Employee), Tukwila, WA – June 11, 2012
Pros: team felt more like a family.
Cons: supervisors, managers, not knowing what is going on
My rating is based on my experience with Group Health. While I was employed there was constant changes being made that we had to implement, however our supervisors would tell us different. It was frustrating having being told two different ways all the time and not knowing which was correct, as well as not having the proper materials needed for learning.

Medicare Specialist (Former Employee), Tukwilla, WA – June 1, 2012
Pros: excellent work place, management, trainers (ect.)
I loved that I could take the time with members to fix any problems they had. The company never considered it a waste of resources or my time. Group Health is about the quality of service and higher standards in patient care.
