Managing a community consisting of seniors can be challenging. Seniors are culture to themselves but once you get past the age barrier, you can learn a great deal from them. They have lived and done things that you have only read about in books and their minds are a wealth of information.
Normally my day begins at 7:30 am. After arriving at work, I open the office, check the mail, and prepare for the days paperwork that needs to be done. However working with seniors means that interruptions will happen and often. Seniors love to talk and they appreciate a good listener. Sometimes I have to politely, remind them that I have other duties.
My staff arrives at work around 9:30 am and after a brief meeting to plan the day, we begin working on our separate jobs. Under my supervision are maintenance persons and a building attendant.
The hardest part of the job is loosing residents due death. This is part of working with senior but it can be very stressful at times.
My favorite part is when, I am able to solve a problem for a resident that is beneficial to both the resident and the company I work for.
