Security officer, Illinois - July 9, 2015
1st and foremost on the outset this company seems like its a very well put together company. They try hard to emulate military standards when it is not required. They don't pay for any form of training. In order to even go to orientation you are required to wear a dress shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes only to sit in a conference and to change out of it twice. Then you are required to train at your site without pay. The benefits are horrible. So horrible within my 1st week we had t do insurance packets my site supervisor told me not to sign up for them because it is far too expensive. Theres no paid time off at all. You get 7 days vacation only after a year of service. Theres no real growth. As I've learned they will hire outside for supervisory positions. Instead of promoting within. The highest pay to my knowledge for a security officer is $15 an hour but you have to be a site supervisor. Then its $12 for a shift supervisor then $11 for a regular officer. So if you do something like a gatehouse duty for your client. The client will pay their employees more for that job than what you will actually get paid. The company itself is a what can you do for us type of company but not a what can I do for you.
