What could have been
Director (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CANovember 9, 2016
Guidance could have been a great company, however, they really missed a golden opportunity to expand into the Cybersecurity market a few years ago when activity in this area was well-publicized. As a result of not taking advantage of prime market conditions, the company has stagnated for the past several years, which has created a culture of insecurity because the company has been laying off employees in droves.
Pros
Opportunity to grow
Cons
Instability

Great place to work
Senior Solutions Consultant (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLOctober 24, 2016
We had a great environment to work for and built the company to a 2 billion dollar a year one. Most of the people had been there for many years.

I had a great experience working at Guidance Software. Their software offerings are unmatched and I learned more that I could have imagined about Cybersecurity, eDiscovery and digital investigations.

Great mission, poor employee satisfaction
Senior Product Marketing Manager (Current Employee) –  Pasadena, CAOctober 19, 2015
There is little focus on the employee, constant strategy changes, and poor overall management of the business. The vast majority of the employees are committed to the company's law enforcement or security customer and are driven by their mission to solve the customer's problems.

While management has improved tremendously, the organization still works in silo's and the tactical effectiveness of sales and marketing is poor relative to competition.

The company has tremendous potential but will need better products and more reasons for high potentials to join the company.
Pros
Great company mission
Cons
Poor employee engagement and opportunity for advancement

I Got My Forensics Experience from the Experts: Guidance Software Makers of EnCase
Senior Forensic Consultant, Professional Services (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CAJune 7, 2015
I was so lucky to get hired from them straight out of college. I had the opportunity to work with so many talented people in the industry and got top notch on the job training. I am forever grateful to have worked there. I learned forensics, the inner workings of EnCase software, worked with the best talent in the industry, etc. The hardest part was the demanding work load and demand to travel being away from home sometimes months at a time. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a great team and learning so much.
Pros
Best on the job experience, Competitive Compensation
Cons
High volume travel

Avoid This Company
Anonymous (Current Employee) –  Pasadena, CAMarch 30, 2014
The compensation used to offset the bad management, but that is no longer the case. The company recently let go of ten percent of the employees, has significantly lowered compensation, and removed the potential for promotion. Management only cares about their pocket books and is outright condescending to even their top performing employees.
Cons
no potential for promotion, management is unethical, bad compensation

Awful!
Sr Corporate Tradeshow and Events Planner (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, CAMarch 27, 2014
There are smart and good people in the company at the professional level. There is no vision what so ever from the Management level in this company. The biggest problem rests in the Marketing Department. Across the board marketing management is AWFUL! You sit in meetings with the Marketing Manager who has no idea what he is doing (in one 1 hour meeting he said umm 57 times), he bad mouths the Marketing VP routinely during meetings. His behavior is totally demoralizing to staff and HR is incompetent and does nothing about it. Will be interesting to see what happens after CEIC 2014 with his total incompetence and lack of any knowledge on how to run a conference (the brains behind the event moved to a new position). Guidance will get what they deserve in this case.

If you get an offer from this company....run in the other direction!
Pros
Smart employees, great location
Cons
Management from top to bottom, benefits, HR
