It was a very easy laid back interview with the store manager and another associate. I discussed why I wasted to work there (part-time) and my future goals which flowed into me talking about my music knowledge. It is also retail so I also gave examples and talked about customer service and sales. I did tell them I was aware of the "bad rap" that guitar center has but that I had always had a positive experience as a customer in their store. The manager was well aware of the reputation and explained how he wanted the store and company presented to customers.
I applied on line, got a call the next day to set up an interview for tomorrow, interviewed -about 35 minutes and was called an hour later with an offer.

It take about two weeks to get hired there all in all. If your background check takes longer I have no idea.

The safety of our Associates and customers is paramount. Accordingly, we perform background checks on all Associates at the time of hire. We would not hire someone convicted of child abuse.

Staff for appropriate coverage. Fight for better gear to be stocked in the inventory so that we could meet yearly quotas which would provide us with more hours and better customer service.
