Truck Driver, Houston, TX - April 28, 2015
On a typical day, let's say day shift, one will go to the yard and get their truck between 3AM (some drivers report that early) - 7AM. He/she would then go to their first load and that could either be a lease where one would have to manually hand work the tank or a LACT unit lease. One will collect oil samples 15' to 20' in the air and on the ground at the LACT lease(s) and also record the amount of oil available in feet and inches. Oil samples will then be put into a centrifuge machine to be record a BS&W. Once approved, the loading will be done according to the gravity recorded. I extensively learned a lot while working at GME. Like how to properly work up at tank and run a PTO system to load and unload the crude oil product. Management is on par with average management in general, but can be subpar at times. The coworkers vary. You have some that are very helpful to some that only wanna come work and leave (which is fine) and some who you may just want to avoid. The hardest part of work at GME is the times when you have a 5 and 1 week. Sometime (occasionally) you may have to work a 5 day on and 1 day off work week. However, usually the work schedule is 4/2. The most enjoyable part of working at GME is when your equipment is readily available for you when you come in to work.
