Productive workplace that at times was enjoyable.
Pros: health/fitness center
Cons: lack of flexibility
When I first started working at Gundersen, a typical day consisted of multi-tasking and working closely with the physicians as a department secretary. I was a liaison between patients and physicians and enjoyed that. It was a good challenge for me and I learned many new aspects of a medical office (travel arrangements, meetings, etc). Management was

The hardest part of my job was when politics took over and the opinions of the employees didn't seem to matter as much. It became more of a "business," centered around money and appeared less about the patients. Our jobs changed drastically and when that happened, some of the "perks" we had gotten previously were taken away and morale suffered. Our department of 97 was later shut down and the work was outsourced. – less

Gundersen Lutheran is a very nice medical system, now if only someone could come in and clean house or better monitor the HR in Viroqua. Just because they have been doing it that way for years does not mean it is right, but obviously stated by this former employee there are still the same actions I saw going on still happening. If HR doesn't want to hire you don't string them along, just tell them!! Don't give them this line of bogus how wonderful we are because that was your first give away as to what you were up to!!! I talked with other employees and they did not check references, and when these employees who were PRN were told they would get more hours they did not, so what has happened to the HR system at Viroqua???? You owe it to the employees as well as your patients to ensure from the top down everyone is being heard!!!
