Offer a base pay that is more than a local McDonald's. It is possible to hire in at fast food around here at $12, yet I only make $9 per hour base. With my commission, it was about $12. I am sick of hearing managers downplay and dismiss this objection. Base pay for a level 1 preparer should be no lower than $12 per hour... And a dollar increase for each certification level attained. Keep the commission system the way it is bc it works very well for some.... But for those who are newer, we will be compensated appropriately for being available. I input a lot of returns and second looks for others because I am not busy and it only pays $9 per hour!!
