I don't suggest this to anyone.
Nigh Stocker (Former Employee), Spring Branch, TX –
Cons: lack of breaks, broken promises, lack of pay
Promises of hours were often thrown out the window. Showed up every night early, never complained, always gave 100% and got handed one night a week. Was also supposed to receive training, never got it. Never knew what was happening that night until we were there. Severely understaffed, administration wouldn't hire anymore.

Fun place to work and good benefits
customer service assistant (Former Employee), Portland, TX –
Pros: good benefits, long breaks
A typical day at work would be clocking in and getting assigned to my work station. I learned how to bag groceries and stock drinks, also where everything in the store was at. The management at Heb was great! My co-workers were the best, never had any problems with them and they were very helpful. The hardest part would be pushing carts in the heat. – more...  The most enjoyable was being able to have fun and still do my job. – less

Manager-In-Charge (Current Employee), Brownsville, TX –
One of the greatest things that HEB has is its corporate culture. They are very people oriented in the aspect that they make every effort to help and take care of their employees.

Customer Service Representative/ Check (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX –
Pros: great effort from all emoployees, team work, customer service
Cons: none that i can think of
A day at work consisted of customer service, sending payments, cashing checks, answering phones and much more. I learned team leader responsibilities. Co-workers were always dependable and always willing to help each other out. I didn't find anything hard about the job. The most enjoyable part of the job was the customer satisfaction.

Good Company
Bookkeeper (Current Employee), Midland, TX –
Pros: "partner" events; free lunch/dinner, actvities outside of the work place
Cons: extremely packed all the time and lazy management
Our Midland HEB is very busy so one is constantly working, the co-workers, or as HEB refers to them: Partners, are great people. Everyone all gets a long pretty well and helps each other out. Most of management are good people, but its really hard to try to talk to them when you need something or when a customer needs to speak with one. They forget, – more...  don't listen, or flat out do not care most of the time. Its really hard to move up in this company, but all the work is easy for the most part. Most enjoyable part of the job are the regular customers that come to the store and know you by name and the partners. Hardest part of the job is probably taking care of all the customers, they're all very demanding and spoiled, and management on the front end is very biased and unfair. – less

relaxed and friendly enviroment
Shelf Edge Specialist (Current Employee), Spring, TX –
Pros: great insurance, comfortable relaxed uniform, many company volunteering opportunities
Cons: set schedules are not common in any grocery retail
as well as providing outstanding customer service the moral around HEB partners is always friendly and outgoing. A relaxed atmosphere. Managers who go beyond basic managment duties to relate and work with thier employees to build a strong foundation and in turn partners push harder to provide excellent work habits and customer relations.

HEB stands for hairy egotistical buzzards
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee), Weslaco, Tx –
Pros: that feeling when you get to go home
Cons: everything
this place is horrible if you want to be a customer service assistant. this place is run by favoritism. only those on the good side of management will enjoy working here. I did more work than others and they never noticed and would always get on my case. HEB sucks.

HEB
Cashier (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX –
Pros: flexibility
Cons: too many chiefs not enough indians
I like the ability to have some what of control of my schedule. However if you ever need to transfer to another store you would pretty much have to interview all over again. No one puts in a good word for you which leaves you in limbo until a store calls you back.I have now been employed with HEB since September of 2010 but have not been on the schedule – more...  since Jan. of 2011.Sucks no support what so ever. – less

Great Company
Service Manager (Current Employee), Houston, TX –
I really enjoy working here and believe that they do treat their employees very well. They pay everyone far better than the competition and offer great benefits. The only reason I want to leave is because I am in grad school and cannot keep working as a salaried manger's 10-12 hour days with the added responsibility school work.

A great company to work for that strives to be its best.
Special Projects Lead ISS (Current Employee), Bee Caves –
Pros: friends and commitment
Cons: communication
A typical day at work for me is clocking in, checking email, and getting with store leadership about the events for the day at us, as Primo Picks (showtime) are scheduled for. I then meet with all the partners one on one as they come in and discuss their events and placement. I also handle the IN STORE SELLING and the GATEFOLD events for each weekend, – more...  so on two of my work days I spend the day coordinating those events.

It's a fast pace enviroment. I've leared in my management training to step back and look deeper. To create possibilities under pressure and out of strange odds. I've learned that patience is a necessity and that life and the world around you should be enjoyed and embraced. Not everyone sees eye to eye on everything and I've learned to stop and talk to each person to establish a common ground.

Management has always been a challange when we do not see eye to eye on something. It takes time to show them what I've been doing and what I want. But they are good in helping in anyway possible in my job and my growth.

My co-works are wonderful to work with. They are fun and energetic.

The hardest part of my job is being underestimated from store leadership and other partners that don't understand or choose not believe in my or my partners abliities. Upset customers are much easier to deal with.
That being said the most enjoyable part of my job is seeing a happy face at the end of a show. Feeling like I made a difference and I did my job as best I could. – less
