Laboratory Assistant/ Phlebotomist (Former Employee), Richmond, VA – August 29, 2013
Pros: working and learning new and different techniques and proceddures
Cons: sometimes you have venipunctures that are very difficult to obtain.
HCA Laboratory is a very family oriented. Very well organized and great tools to do your work sufficiently. The hardest part of the job is seeing patients not feeling good while you have to draw their blood.
A productive workplace, with room to grow in the company.
Medical Assistant (Former Employee), Kansas City, MO – August 29, 2013
Pros: tuition reinbursement
A typical day at work for me was making sure my patients needs and concerns were meet and taken care of, as well as the office which I micro-managed.
I really didn't learn a lot there, I've been in the medical field for years. The only real thing I learned is the new PCMH (patient center medical home), that all medical facilities are now implementing.
The – more... management was horrible we went through 3 managers within 2 years. Managers were never on site maybe one day a week or half a day if even that. Then managed 2,3 some even 4 other clinics so there was never no real stability within the office as far as management.
My co-workers were terrific, we were a team and helped one another as needed, without having to ask one another. Just did what was needed to be done for our patients and to relieve one another's work load.
The hardest part of the job was the management, and them coming in trying to make changes when they were never there to even know what went on in the office when our office ran perfectly.
The most enjoyable part of my job was dealing and working with my patients on a daily basis. I love my patients and I've gone far and beyond for years to strive to make sure they are well taken care of and are getting the best care possible. – less
Dept.Asst/Monitor Tech. /Critical Care Tech (Former Employee), Richmond, VA – August 25, 2013
Pros: satisfaction of taking care of people
Cons: low pay
Never know what to expect Learned how to interpret heart rhythms. Read doctors orders and input into meditech system staff was wonderful to work with and with all i learned there some times i wish i were still there. I enjoyed what i did its that the pay was too low for everything i did in my position. They have you do a lot and you have a lot of responsibility – more... for the little pay they offer – less

Pros: stability, some growth, training.
Cons: position advancement, and pay
HCA is a quality and production based job. You would have to truly understand that upon working there and excepting any job there. There is great opportunity to grow in the right situation and under the right management team.
HR Business Partner (Current Employee), Irving, TX – August 6, 2013
Pros: great work/life balance; supportive management; wonderful teamwork
Cons: no growth; slow processes; changes introduced at times with little planning or direction
Garnered more information working directly with our facilities and implementing not only office strategy but division and corporation-wide strategies as well. Role allowed for autonomy and decision-making that positively affected our company. Wonderful team to work with. Processed were sometime hard to maneuver, especially in situations where things – more... needed to be corrected (pay, differentials, status, etc.) – less
Accounts Payable Specialist (Former Employee), Richmond, VA – August 5, 2013
As long as I was able to do work by the policy at that company, everything was wonderful. However, Emron made it impossible for staff because many of the managers during that time was lazy and unwilling to do the require check points for Sorbane/Oxley act.
Supervisor (Former Employee), Tampa, FL – August 2, 2013
Pros: flexible working hours
Supervised Schedulers and Insurance verification as well as fill in for these areas as needed. Positive working conditions are very important in work environment with good employee and supervisor communications. Hardest part would be making sure all employees happy are with their assigned duties. Most enjoyable would be that all personalities communcated – more... and worked well with each other. – less
