Medical Coder/Day Health Clerk, Kahului, HI - January 18, 2018
When i worked as the Day Health Clerk it was so fun. I enjoyed my job and I performed it well. Its when I got hired in Medical Records that things turned sour fast. I am a Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice. I was hired at lower salary because I am still an apprentice. My Medical Records supervisor was well aware that I was an apprentice. When i started, I quickly found out that I was expected to not ask questions of my co-worker or boss. When I asked my supervisor a question, she acted like she was pulling her hair out of her head. When I would ask my co-worker a question, she was happy to answer my questions if the supervisor was not around. If the supervisor was around and I asked my co-worker a question, my co-worker would shush me and point to our supervisor in a manner that told me not to ask questions. Its not like anyone was even there to ask questions anyway. The supervisor was always taking 40-50 minute "smoke" breaks several times a day. The supervisor also engaged in very unprofessional gossip with other employees about other supervisors and directors. Commenting negatively on their hair or clothes, making it very uncomfortable for me as I did not engage in her gossip sessions. My time in Medical Records at Hale Makua was the worst job experience ever.
