An emotional position
HR Administrator (Former Employee), Windsor Locks, CT –
Manpower actually was the hiring agent for this particular position. I was only on this assignment for three months. Hamilton was closing a facility in the area and only needed a administrative assistant to fill in until their employee could move her office to Windsor Locks, CT. This position was probably the most difficult position due to the fact – more...  that the people who I interacted with were generally in conflict, being laid off, had family issue, had substance abuse, etc. My interpersonal skills were utilized. I realized what human resources departments have to deal with on daily basis. – less

This is a fantastic company to work for!
Recruiting Consultant (Current Employee), Windsor Locks, CT –
I perform full lifecycle recruiting of all levels of quality and supply chain engineering professionals nationally assisting engineering management in the interviewing and hiring process.
I also assist the HR manager with the offer and hiring process.
Developing a pipeline of candidates by means of job boards, advertising, and staffing firms is also – more...  what I do on a daily basis. – less

Cons: 7day work week for good pay
Every other month they say that there is going to be a layoff. Good for the morale.

Senior Associate Contract Specialist (Former Employee), Windsor Locks, CT –
Pros: employee scholar program, management
Cons: lack of room for advancement
I spent a terrific 3.5 years at Hamilton Sundstrand, and would return if the right opportunity presented itself. The company takes its employees' work-life balance seriously, and their Continuous Improvement processes are consistently implemented. I would certainly recommend working for Hamilton Sundstrand, and United Technologies Corp. as a whole.

former employee (Wilson, NC)
From shop floor Assembly, Lead (Former Employee), Wilson, NC –
Pros: benefits
Cons: job growth
Worked hard for 25 years then laid off after surgery. Good place to work if you just do your job and don't try to go above and beyond, then they put more work on you, yet leave dead weight alone. Very unhonest with employees and don't like it when the truth is told. Preach ethics but I found unethical behavior to be rampent. Little room for growth unless – more...  you are in the "click". – less

Very demanding and management is very bad.
Configuration management associate (Former Employee), Rockford, IL –
Pros: proud of having been involved in the 787 aircraft
Cons: they really don't care about their employees.
When I was laid off after 34 years of service it was heartbreaking. The worst of it was my manager called in sick and my manager above him which works in Windsor Locks did't even bother to call and lay me off himself. What happened was a manager I didn't even know laid me off. He kept walking up and down the hallway until he found my name tag. That – more...  was so degrating after 34 years. – less

miranda – April 24, 2012

if you're not waxing someone's boat or playing golf with the "in crowd" you are doomed...nepotism runs rampant as well...they need to start doing away with all the upper management positions they create for the good old boys...i have nothing good to say about space systems...be very thoughtful before applying to any position for them

Pros: allow to learn new skills and family oriented, quality driven
Cons: limited advancements in clerical field, less immediate managerial support
Good communication, respectful to employees, various management levels, allows further education and incentives. But, limited room for advancement, as far as, experience verse education during my employment.
