Hannaford is great place to work.
Deli Associate (Former Employee), Bangor, MEApril 12, 2014
Pros: hannaford had great employee recognition
Cons: hannaford had a declining feel to it, business could stand to be more populated.
A typical day was predictable as far as the amount of customers coming in on a regular basis. The ordering and stocking of shipments was easily timed into a routine system. The department mangers were all very friendly and held to a family like ethic within their department. My co-workers were all fantastic to work with. The hardest part of the job – more... was leaving the job to move to Ohio. The most enjoyable part of the job, for me, was the industrious use of my skills. I enjoy hands on work. – less

Good company... for full timers.
Meat Clerk (Former Employee), Brunswick, MEApril 4, 2014
Pros: breaks, starts (slightly) higher than minimum wage, pleasant environment
Cons: no benefits, horrible treatment of part time employees.
Job expectations were reasonable, coworkers were pleasant and it was nice getting breaks for a change of pace. Very focused on customer service, which was also nice.

Hours got cut down to nothing completely out of the blue, because full time employees are guaranteed 40 hours per week, and a full time meat cutter that had been floating over the summer – more... switched to one store only for winter. Not pleasant going from barely making ends meet part time to not even being able to feed yourself. – less

Customer Service Atmosphere
Shift leader/Cashier (Former Employee), Old Town, MEFebruary 18, 2014
Welcoming the public with a smile, helping when needed with customers, cashiering, shift leading which was running the front end, making sure employees were doing their responsibilities, delegating tasks when needed, team work.
Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people everyday, or seeing the familiar faces come in.

First job while in High School
Cashier/Service Leader (Former Employee), Belfast, MEJanuary 30, 2014
Very good first job, they were very flexible with my school schedule and extracurriculars having to do with school. I started off as a service associate (Bagger) and than when I turned 16 I became a Cashier. Than I worked up to Service Leader, I was in charge of scheduling breaks and where each associate was working.

Friendly customers
Cashier (Former Employee), Camden, MEJanuary 12, 2014
Pros: friendly customers.
Cons: my manager had favorites
I was a cashier, so I checked people out. I also was a bagger sometimes, which means I bagged peoples foods, went outside and retrieved carts, and put back items that were returned or not wanted. I worked 30 hours a week and I never really checked, but i think i made 8.25 an hour. I loved my customers, they were nice and started conversations with me – more... and they would remember me the next time they came in. I rarely had upset customers. The hardest part of the job was retrieving the carts. – less

The associates are great, and the management is like family. There are a lot of employees so it does make it hard to move up. Great first time job for college students.

First Job
Supervisor (Former Employee), Raleigh, NCDecember 2, 2013
Pros: all the ot you can want
Cons: pay wasn't that great
I loved working for Hannaford... I was 16 when I started and I was able to work as much overtime as they needed... They figured they'd pay associates overtime so they wouldn't have to hire someone else to do the job. I advanced pretty quick with the company. Started out as a bagger/cashier and within a year I was running customer service and bookkeeping... – more... Shortly after that I was running a dairy department and the pay wasn't that great per hour but with all the OT I was making it pretty good.... – less

Friendly and fast paced work environment
Front End Supervisor (Former Employee), Nashua, NHNovember 19, 2013
Pros: if i forgot my lunch that was okay, i worked in a grocery store!
Cons: no insurance for part-time flex employees.
Depending of the day of the week most days where typically steady. Saturday and Sundays were fast-paced, busy and sometimes, as a front end supervisor, you had to think fast on your feet and "own the solution" by figuring out how to satisfy the needs of the customer(s). Time management, team work, and a creative sense of problem solving are different – more... aspects I learned/improved on during this job. The co-workers at my job were friendly and were always willing to help out, which is great. Working in a retail environment, such as a grocery store, situations can change quickly. Because of that, it was great to know that my fellow co-workers were willing to go the extra mile. One of the hardest aspects of the job, was being confronted by an angry/displeased customer. However, I found it to be a great way to further improve my customer skills. Working with many different people I grew to know and call my friends was one of the most enjoyable parts of the job. – less
