Flexible and good place to work, not much room for advancement
General Merchandise Clerk (Current Employee), Charlottesville, VA –
Pros: profit-sharing, benefits, weekly pay
Cons: not much room for advancement
Harris Teeter is great place for high school students and college students to start working at. They are flexible when it comes to schedules. They have full-time and part-time associate benefits. It's nice to have friendly co-workers that you can build relationships with. There is never a dull moment.

The mornings are slow, afternoons are busiest as cashier.
Cashier (Current Employee), Manassas, VA –
Pros: discounts for employees
Cons: almost everyone is pt, pt benefits aren't as good as ft.
Most co-workers are nice. In the mornings one of my co-workers said she could "hear the crickets" which is why they cut hours for AM people alot. Management has changed a couple times since I've been there and they are always in the office.

Corporate Office Employee (Current Employee), Matthews, NC –
Pros: nice bonuses
Cons: pressure to accomplish tons of work
The management has extremely high standards. If you are not very hard working and self-motivated, this company may not be for you. It is a pleasure for me to work with a group of genuine caring people with high production levels. If you are a salaried employee, expect to give lots of hours. However, it can be rewarding.

Constantly changing and demanding work place
Co-Manager (Current Employee), Mount Pleasant, SC –
Pros: fast pased, ever changing work environment
Cons: always changing schedule
Harris Teeter is a great company to work for and has provided a large amount of training and development to the associates that want to advance their career. Over the ten years I have been with them I am proof that hard work pays off. I started as a cashier and have worked my way up to Co Manager of the store. I completed two internships with the Training – more...  and Development Department for a program that went company wide training young professionals that were ready for the transition into store management.
On a day to day basis my management, organizational, planning, and operations skills are put to the test. I enjoy the fast paced, ever changing environment, because it provides new opportunities to excel and grow each day. – less

Best Job
Cashier/Bagger (Former Employee), Charlotte, NC –
Pros: request time off, vacation pay, sick days
I enjoyed my time working at Harris Teeter. I would go back to working for the company if given the chance. I learned a lot about good customer skills that keeps customers coming back to our store even if they are more expensive than local competition. The employees were genuinely friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the people I worked with. The management – more...  is flexible with any issues and easy to talk to, very fair. – less

Hard work teaches valuable lessons
Assistant Produce Department Manager (Current Employee), South Charlotte, NC –
A typical day at work involves being to work at 5am and working an 8-9 hour day. I am responsible for pulling trucks, setting the department for a day's business, ordering and inventorying product and managing the other associates in my department. The work itself is not very difficult. The most difficult part of the job is managing the people and managing – more...  my time at work in the most efficient way possible. I take pride in my work, and I want to be the best at what I do. Being recognized for my hard work and contributions to the department is always enjoyable. – less

Great place place to work if looking for a job. I would not want to make Harris Teeter a long-term career choice
meat clerk (Current Employee), Norfolk Virginia –
Pros: friendly associates, great atmosphere, flexible hours
Cons: communication with managers, working holidays, no overtime
Harris Teeter is a very busy grocery that is very diverse in employment and job opportunities. Ive learned a lot in regards to communication and customer satisfaction. Harris Teeter has taught me to be personable and assertive when dealing with customers, associates, and managers. Co-workers are the best part about working at Harris Teeter. You will – more...  meet a diverse group of people. The hardest part of the job is the providing the best service possible while the communication line from management isn't always clear on how, when, and where they want things done. For example most stores have more than one store manager, who might want the same task done different ways. It becomes stressful sometimes – less

The people that work at Harris Teeter are good associates who do their best to give good customer service.
Assistant Dairy/Frozen Manager (Current Employee), Durham, NC –
Pros: discounts through customer e-vic program
Cons: benefits subpar
Harris Teeter is a decent company to work for but there is little chance for advancement and the company seems to care more about their profit than about giving employees a chance to grow. there is poor communications between management and the associates.
