Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)'s promise to provide Central Pennsylvania with state-of-the-art educational facilities for the region's first responders moved forward with a ceremonial groundbreaking for a $15 million expansion and renovation of the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center (PSC). Scores of state, county and local officials; first responders; business and community leaders; and HACC staff, faculty, administrators and students gathered to celebrate the partnerships that made the next steps possible in the first phase of the master plan to upgrade the PSC.
A year ago, HACC's resource development team launched the Campaign to Help Tomorrow's First Responders, Today! with a goal of $4.5 million in support of the $15 million construction cost of phase one of the master plan to expand and upgrade the complex. To date, over $5.1 million from over 325 donors has been received from community, corporate, alumni, staff and foundations. Of these, over 200 of the donors are "$1,000 PSC Partners" contributors. – less–ZoomInfo
