Working at Hartford

  • stella e in Florida 7 months ago
Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Hartford? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Hartford?

This position is HIGH stress with little reward. I have had many friends quit, get terminated for not meeting sales goals. I worked there for a 6 month time period in which I was diagnosed hypertensive as a result of the stress.

From what I have been reading via the posts ~ this company needs to be reported to the "Better Business Breau" in addition, a complaint filed with "Connecticut Human Rights" orgainization. This is extremely unprofessional how this business is run. Let's see how rude and unprofessional they are when they get a call from the Connecticut Commission of Human Rights". I believe in human rights, especially "Women's Human Rights" ...I say we all file and stop the abuse now.

I spoke to Hartford Human Resources on two different occasions. Once four years ago and one time a couple months ago. I spoke to a guy named Ken each time. Both experiences were identical. Ken reached out to me and we had an initial phone screening. I was told I was very qualified for the position. Both times he never contacted me after saying he would. I tried contacting him, but received no return calls. No letter, email, or phone call providing any information.

I am a 23 year old recent college graduate from Chicago who is moving to Hartford for a job. I have to be honest, I know very little about the entire Northeast area, espeically Hartford. I was looking for advice on places to live, rent.... mainly with people like myself and easy places to meet people because I really dont know anyone there. My office is right in the middle of downtown on the West side of the river and will be constantly communting to the airport. I will also have a car at my disposal. So any advice would be greatly helpful.

It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Hartford? Any advice on striking the right note?

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Hartford stack up against the competition?
