a tipical day at harveys
Customer Service Representative, Cashier (Former Employee), Oakville, ON – November 5, 2012
Pros: 50% discount on meal.
Cons: only a half hour break (not paid for)
I would start my day by signing in, witch i was always 15 minutes to early. i would look on the broad to see where i was, and go to my potion. lets say i was drive thru order taker. i would get a head set all set up put it on and do my job, taking orders and dealing with cash. the hardest part about that potion specifically is that the rush hour was – more... so unorganized, you had people yelling at the grill guy.. complete craziness. i worked at a Harvey/Swiss chalet so all the mangers were busy on the Swiss side. The most fun part i would have to say was laughing with guests, and having interactions with others. – less

Harvey's
Lead grill (Current Employee), Belleville, ON – September 24, 2012
Pros: just a pay check, working with good people
Cons: favouritism with certain workers, lack of hours due to the favouritism
My typical day at work would include, maintaining a clean work environment, preparation of food, stocking, documentation all food temperatures and training new employees.
What I learned from working at Harvey's was different ways of dealing with certain costumers, and must keep personal life out of workplace, some co-workers have a tenancy of gossiping – more... about others personal business.
Management needs to be straighten around, nothing is equal in the workplace, there is favouritism.
There was nothing I found hard working as a cook at Harvey's, everything was pretty simple to understand and figure out.
The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting different co-workers and have the opportunity to work with some excellent, hard working people. – less

Stressful working environment
General Assistant (Current Employee), Scarborough, ON – September 9, 2012
Cons: long hours
Working at Harvey's was a tough place to work. Handling all types of customers was not easy, yet I would say that it is a best place to start because I have learn't a lot throughout my experience. Handling customers with manners no matter how tired or tough the customers are. Although I was paid minimum weight-age, I am glad I worked there for the tough – more... experience I went through. – less

Shift Supervisor (Former Employee), Windsor, ON – July 27, 2012
Pros: great customer service
Cons: the pay rate was minimum wage
At Harvey's I was able to become a supervisor. I started as a cashier. I liked the fact that the owner was there every day, and would always lend a hand when needed like he wasn't just our boss, but part of the team.

Customer Service (Former Employee), Chatham-Kent, ON – July 11, 2012
Pros: discount on food
Cons: working some hours for free when they didnt pay me for them
I quit due to losing pay for the hours I have worked. I would work several hours for free because I didnt get paid for them, the managers did nothing about it for I was not the only one who quit due to this reason.

Customer Service (Former Employee), Port Hope, ON – July 8, 2012
Pros: free food
Cons: dealing with customers
I would normally work night shifts from 5-11. I would either be on garnish, fries, or cash. I learned how to use a cash registers, and how to deal with picky customers. The hardest part about the job is definetly dealing with difficult customers and keeping my cool.

Griller/Fryer (Current Employee), Ottawa, On – May 8, 2012
Pros: food is 50 percent off
Cons: extremely repetitive
consistently on and off busy timings. Work is extremely repetitive and it is really hard to learn something new. I learned to prep the food, clean kitchen equipment, fry and grill and most importantly organize things according to company standards. Management is excellent everything is done in proper form and timings.
