Work with great people at an historic company.
Sales Consultant (Current Employee), Anniston, AL – May 17, 2013
Pros: discount on furniture
Cons: not a lot of room for advancement
I usually start the day reviewing prospective customers from the week before or calling clients I have in my calendar to contact. Then I make sure I am prepared to help customers throughout the day. As I help customers I try and get enough information to call them or email them if they choose not to buy right away. I also give presentations occasionally – more... about design and the latest trends. My co-workers are great people and I have learned a lot from my years at Haverty's. I have fine-tuned my people skills and am confident in communicating with almost anyone. I have learned a lot from my manager about what to do and not to do when I become a manager. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping people. – less

Some of the team are great guys others are suck ups and would try and tell on you any chance they got

Fun place to work and shop.
SALES ASSOCIATE (Former Employee), Fayetteville, GA – December 21, 2012
Pros: free samples, fre food on occasion. great meetings.
Cons: short breaks sometimes. healthcare
What I learned is that Haverty's has a very good choice of furniture, excellent quality and craftmanship. A typical day at work would be following up with previous customers and new propects. Sending emails and a photo of what the customer has biewed in the store. Management staff were good at performing they're duties. The co-workers were friendly – more... and ready to help if needed. The hardest part of the job a=was working with a couple that disagreed on choices of need. The most enjoyable part was after the day was done the customers left happy, you're happy and a job well done even if you did not make a sale that. Extra effort pays off . As well as ralationship building with a prospect. – less

Productive and well compensated
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee), Chesterfield, VA – November 4, 2012
Pros: hourly pay
Cons: lots of overtime
A typical day at work consisted of unloading furniture off a box trucks. I learned how to handle products safely for deliveries without damaging the products and also how to do inventory control. My co-workers were great. Almost like a brotherhood. Hardest part of the job was the heavy items and awkward pieces of furniture. I enjoyed working here because – more... the pay was very well – less

very nice company to work for
Sales Consultant (Former Employee), Fayetteville, NC – September 25, 2012
Pros: good company
Cons: commision pay
Learned a lot about sales and techniques about selling furniture. My co-workers were great people. The hardest thing for me was to be aggressive in the selling of furniture, which you really needed to be to make the sales to earn money because it was commission pay. Which was the reason for going to Roomstore they had told me I could just stay at $10.00 – more... an hour which was untrue. – less

havety's
Design/Sales Associate (Former Employee), West Palm Beach, FL – July 6, 2012
Pros: fair working environment
Cons: inventory not always available to deliver which effects sale sgoals
Overall haveryt's is a good company the only real downfall is tong hours one is required to work. 12 hour days are non uncommon and the corporation is not always sensitive to outside influences in its employees lives. this requires the employees to sometimes not be comletely truthful when requesting exceptions to scheduling.

The local management team – more... was very fair and treated it's employees well. But they could not always guarantee availability of custom products to be delivered on time, These shortcomings affect a salespersons ability to meet goals. – less

Training in question
Visual Coordinator/ Office Assistant (Former Employee), Springfield, MO – June 25, 2012
Pros: one hour lunch break with two 15 minute breaks in between
I had two positions there. One was Visual coordinator. This entailed designing for the showroom floor. I enjoyed this very much. I loved seeing new accessories and furniture come in to the warehouse to be put out onto the floor that I had ordered. My typical day started out by checking out the floor to see what could be improved while looking at a best – more... seller's list. I moved furniture that sold better, to a prime location. I also designed vignettes; coordinating art, accessories, and bedding with furniture groups. I also worked there as an Office Assistant. This included taking payments, calling customers, and filing...among other office duties.
The hardest part of the job was juggling the two positions and trying to learn everything about both of them at the same time.
There was no real direction in the training department. No one knew about the visual coordinating position besides the coordinator I replaced who was no longer there. I had to find out through other means. Other visual coordinators throughout the country would help me with questions I had, but it was very difficult to get ahold of them and they were busy as well. Because I was focusing on this position, I was lacking in the office area. Once I thought I was starting to get the hang of office work, I was let go and they said I had done nothing wrong. – less
