Engineer (Current Employee) – Downers Grove, IL – March 17, 2016
Great co-workers. Great Pay.
Management is disconnected and doesn't understand why.
IT organization puts significant marketing effort behind career advancement, but does not back that up with action. Difficult to advance, but there is a significant bonus if you once worked at Office Max.
Highly political. Definitely an organization that plays favorites not solely based on merit.
Work life balance is good for IT, but seems sketchy in other areas of the company.
SENIOR MANAGER (Former Employee) – Downers Grove, IL – August 18, 2015
Typical work day is lots of meetings. Normally it takes about a little more than a year to get a client or develop a new partnership so a lot of work is involved up front and then the waiting. A typical day (in the office) is about 10 hours and expect to work from home as well to meet project deadlines. Management is very flexible, they just want the job done and do not get to caught up in the details of how. And yes we have a ping pong table with organized tournaments.
In the suburbs if you do not want to catch train downtown
Database Administrator (Former Employee) – Downers Grove, IL – April 27, 2015
The compensation and benefits were amazing. I found the management to be disjointed in their vision. If you can handle things that change by the hour and not try to get too wrapped up in doing a good job, this place may be for you.
Customer Service Category Manager (Current Employee) – Downers Grove, IL – October 2, 2014
If you want to succeed you have to work 12 hour days. I have learned a great deal about project management however changes in the organization that affect workers directly are not clearly communicated.
Data Administrator - Item & Location Management (Former Employee) – Downers Grove, Il – November 4, 2013
A good job as data administrator. Worked with internal and external contacts, nationally and internationally. Busy job providing coding for food and toy products. Good co-workers. Learned more about supply chain logistics.
OK environment and fun workforce, but disconnected leadership
IT Management (Former Employee) – Downers Grove, IL – June 18, 2013
Not a bad place to work, but the company is growing at a rapid rate and experiencing some of the pitfalls associated with such a pace of growth (high turnover, lack of job security, overworked resources, lack of process and direction, etc.). Senior management comes across as deceptive and having ulterior motives by many. They speak about openness, honesty and transparency but do not actively practice it.
diverse, global workforce
understaffed, lack of sufficient resources, no work-life balance, lack of transparency by leadership
