Technical Marketing (Former Employee), Wichita, KSJanuary 24, 2014
I worked for HBC for over 9 years. I enjoyed working there and met several new friends.
HBC was an educational and yet rewarding job in many ways.
HBC has struggled for several years and unfortunately the layoff's took so many great people and so much knowledge that it was very disappointing when I too was laid off in 2010.

ELECTRONIC TEST TECHNICIAN (Former Employee), Wichita, KSOctober 19, 2013
Pros: union benefits: health care, negotiated wages, negotiated breaks
Clock in on time, crew meeting or meeeting with management. I learned an easier better way to accomplish my given tasks for the day. How to work and cooperate with management and co-workers. Most difficult was when assigned to a new task and learning the procedure for a new task or new phase of a job. Most enjoyable was different challenges and variety – more... of different tasks that accompanied every job. – less

Avionics Installer on King Air (Former Employee), Wichita, KSOctober 18, 2013
Over my years there it was a little up and down on job security. I learned about the avionics and electrical side of the job. Working on these aircraft was a educational time in my life because I was young and needed to learn a skill and that is what I did

excellent work enviroment with prodution oriented workers
Avionics Installer (Former Employee), San Antonio,TxOctober 8, 2013
Pros: relaxed schedule, breakes were fluid and you could take them when needed.
Cons: manditory overtime and 12 hr shifts, mostly through the holidays when customers park their aircraft for maint and upgrades
Relaxed atmosphere with freindly and helpful co-workers oriented towards a productive day. Every one was willing to lend a helping hand when neccessary and pass on their experiance and knowlage to advance a project in a safe an efficiant manor. Ive learned that some jobs are better than others, and no single job is ever perfect. Management for the most – more... part tried to work with the maintanence tech as best they could. The hardest part of the job was dealing with the frequent changes in proceedures and schedules brought on by an abnormally high turnover rate of Facility Manegers. The joke was that the San Antonio Facility Manegers position was a career ending oppertunity. The most enjoyable part of the job was the relaxed mode of operation when jobs and schedules were in sync. – less

Senior Avionics Wire Tech (Former Employee), Little Rock, ARSeptember 23, 2013
Pros: four day work weeks, ten hours a day, and going to work early.
I learned how to program and use a laser stamping machine. Learned about the gauge and different types of wire. How to read avionics blue prints, lay-in and tie down harnesses. Installed harnesses on all cabinetry and installed harnesses in aircraft. The hardest part of the job was installing the harnesses inside small places inside the aircraft.The – more... most enjoyable part of the job was installing the harnesses on the cabinetry and working with my co-workers. Shipping Clerk (Former Employee), Wichita, KSSeptember 4, 2013
Pros: pay, job advancement, quarterly pay raise
Cons: outsourcing, lay offs
A typical day at work consisted of making sure parts were in acceptable condition and properly protected before we shipped them out. I learned customer service etiquette and how to use SAP to set specific tracking on parts in the system. There wasn't much hard about the job, as the job duties were pretty consistent
