Ruled by blind ingnorance, by choice
Avionics Tech II (Current Employee), Tampa, FL – April 25, 2013
Pros: it's tampa, nice beaches
Cons: very low pay with no promotion potential
Had high expectations, but reality of the Tampa service center took hold. Avionics manager is too old and unfit for the position. Avionics install supervisor is a Cracker Jack A&P that knows nothing about safety or quality. Everyone tries to do their job from memory; mechanics, structures, and avionics. Very scary to be a customer of that facility. – more... Pay is low and they DO NOT GIVE ANNUAL RAISES, never worked for a place that operates that way. I'm warning you STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! – less

High spirited company with excellant leadership.
Final Assembler (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – February 19, 2013
Pros: the company always provided pizza, chic filet, grilled burgers & wieners.
A wonderful workplace to hone your craft and learn how to be all that you can be. The company was emphatic about cross training so that everyone would know as much as possible about everything we could learn to keep everything running smooth. Management was extremely fair and friendly. The co-workers were tolerable to good. As I reflect back, we had – more... a lot of good times working together and doing our best to make the designated quotas. – less

A productive workplace that provided many learning opportunities
Sheet Metal Assembler (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – February 7, 2013
Pros: benefits, wages, opportunities
Cons: job security
A typical day would include checking for correct parts, reviewing blueprints, troubleshooting problems, maintaining tools. I learned many aspects of building airplane assemblies from many of my co-workers. They provided insight and in many cases, valued assistance. The hardest part of the job would have to be the times when long hours were required which – more... was time away from family. The most enjoyable part of the job was building the best quality airplane possible. – less

Loved the stress free atmosphere!
Hand Burr (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – January 27, 2013
Pros: being able to work 5 -1:30 on weekends
Right now I'm unemployed, but while employed, time there was pleasant. I was able to listen to music. That made the day relaxing which helped with dealing with stress. I had the opporrtunity to learn different jobs. I was blessed to have good managers. That made the job enjoyable. The hardest part of the job is not knowing if you were going to be layed – more... off at some point. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to see the final completion of the aircraft. Seeing it roll out, knowing that you played a major part of the success of delivery. – less

Parts Room.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Little Rock, AR – January 10, 2013
Pros: shift
Cons: long drive
I loved working at Hawker Beechcraft, It would have to be one of my favorite places to work. The coworkers were nice and made you feel like family members. My duties were simple but important. I was in charge of helping receive parts for the jets, making sure they were the correct parts and that everything matched. I was also in charge or stocking parts – more... and making sure entering data into the computer. Checking out parts. My time at Hawker was a successful experience for me. I learned a large amount of responsibilities. The Hardest part of my job would have to been the lifting of 50 to 70 pound batteries, and the long distance drive there and from work. The most enjoyable part of my job would have to be the experience and coworkers they always made it enjoyable to work there. – less

Stabilizing after emerging from Chapter 11
Controller (Current Employee), Little Rock, AR – December 31, 2012
Beechcraft Corp is no longer focusing on jets, and the company should be more stable and profitable going forward. Generally, a decent place to work.

HBC
Technical Marketing Specialist (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – November 30, 2012
Pros: autonomy in work structure, flexibility in work hours/location
Cons: pressure in working for a company in financial stress
As a team member within the sales and marketing organization I supported the sale of private, business and special missions aircraft. A typical day would involve crafting a product report outlining the features and benefits of a particular airplane while later I would be asked to develop a detailed analysis between this product and a competitor airplane.

I – more... was granted autonomy to research and develop "show-worthy" material for the marketing communications team for use in projects ranging from advertising, internet, and/or shows and exhibits. Core projects included researching, organizing and producing a variety of product and competitive reports designed to inform potential customers plus enhance the ability of the sales force to promote and sell business and personal aircraft.

The best feature of my job was working as part of a creative team in solving problems and finding solutions to help our sales team sell our products. I also worked for a gentleman that maintained the highest ethical standards in our material as well as respect for everyone. He also maintained a remarkable sense of humor that kept the work environment tolerable.

The hardest part of the job was the often tight deadlines for detailed material. Often a sales person would be with the customer and needed something immediately or very quickly.

My co-workers were the best group of professionals that anyone could work with. We would all work constructively and with pride in collectively achieving goals set by management. Their humor and respect for one another often made my day. – less
