Did not enjoy working here
Associate Attorney (Former Employee), Houston, TX – January 3, 2013
Pros: bar in the office
Cons: no training
This is a typical defense law firm. If you end up working with the right partners or on interesting cases, you will do fine here. If you end up with the wrong boss or bad cases, you will not enjoy the job.

Hays placement at Roche, Switzerland
Lab Specialist (Former Employee), Roche, VD – July 19, 2012
Pros: long work hours imply more pay
Cons: holiday allowance includes public holidays, so watch out, easy to miscalculate the days that are available.
Fantastic, effortless communication line.
Very accommodating, compelled me to be extra productive and double efforts in response to their ‘no problem, let us help you’ nature.
To illustrate this, I miscalculated my holiday allowance and booked a ski holiday for a day too long. I was prepared to return earlier, but was given another convenient option.

Waste of time
Agency (Current Employee), bristol – June 13, 2013
Pros: there are none
Cons: lack of communication, have no idea what they are doing
I inform the agency on which days I can and cannot work and I always get phoned up to work on days which I have previously said I cannot. They do not record information down their end, so when you do inform them that you previously said you couldn't do that date, its your fault. The pay is really rubbish and so is the service. I am asked to worked in – more... areas where I cannot get to and every time I say no because of this, they seem surprised.
They say that they look for long time work for you, but this is also a lie, you can tell in their voice that they haven't bothered and are bulls**ting.
They haven't got a clue what they are doing. The worst of many agencies I have worked for. – less

Seriously good - in my view
IT Contractor (Current Employee), Lisburn, County Antrim – June 12, 2013
Pros: market knowledge, speedy reponses
Cons: none yet.
I work through Hays in a contract role (.net developer) and I've had an infintely better experience with my 2 consultants than from any other recruitment firm. Third long-term contract role, lots of support on timesheets and expenses, and kept up to speed on new roles each time my project ends.

Work hard, play hard
Office Administrator (Former Employee), Cardiff, WLS – June 10, 2013
Cons: no promotional opportunities for support staff
Hays Specialist Recruitment epitomises the 'work-hard, play-hard' saying. The long hours, late nights and early mornings can sometimes be a constant battle, but you get a huge sense of satisfaction when the job is done. Hays pushes its workers to be a better Recruiter, so we can be knowledgeable in our market. A typical day for myself would be looking – more... after a team of 17 consultants, spread over two offices and 3 divisions. I had to learn about each division and make sure I adhered to all the compliance rules for each one. – less

HAYS are the worst agency from candidates prospective
candidate (Former Employee), london – June 3, 2013
HAYS are definitely the worst recruitment agency I ever came across. They are really just waste of your time and travel expenses.
I've been to their HQ three times on different occasions. Each time no feedback, no return phone calls. Stay clear of this company to save a bit of your time.
I wonder how they still survive.

Challenging work
Temporary teachers' assistant and receptionist (Former Employee), Cardiff, WLS – June 2, 2013
Pros: working with children, working as part of a team.
Cons: no long term, permanent position
A typical day would consist of being given instructions on what I need to do throughout the day with the children or any other activities that needed to be completed, this could range from reading with the children to preparing activities. I've learned from this experience how to communicate effectively with co-workers and parents, how to handle difficult – more... circumstances and many other skills in the process. The hardest part of the job was that I was unable to stay in one school longer than a week and make that school a permanent place of employment. But the most enjoyable part was that I was able to work as part of a team and be part of activities in the school. – less

Fast paced,enjoyable and rewarding
Team Manager (Former Employee), Northampton – May 28, 2013
Pros: being directly responsible for your teams performance
Cons: long hours, commute, night shifts
My working hours at Barclaycard was 3pm till 11pm, Monday to Friday but most days I started working at 2pm and did not finish till 12am. I used to travel from Derby to Northampton everyday which took me 1 hour 30 minutes each way. I did not mind the commute as I loved working their, everyone knew there role well which made the PPI department very efficient. – more... I was contracting through Hays managing my own team of level 2 PPI case handlers, I oversaw my team going through cases from start to finish, investigating on customers PPI Claims, whether it be an uphold or defend, making sure my team follow the correct processes, answering queries, spotting errors, regular team focus meetings on quality and performance, building my team up to target and through their accreditations. Even though I was contracting for only a short time I learned a lot about PPI, how its calculated, what different processes company's use and also how to adapt and make things better. I learned that if you put in hard work it always pays off, seeing my team get up to speed with their targets and through there accreditations was the best part of my job. – less

Ask me
Business Support Officer (Current Employee), Victoria Street, London – May 8, 2013
Pros: flexibility
Cons: travel
Good company, very relaxing environment.
Shared workload with colleagues.
There is no area in the role I consider to be hard.
The most enjoyable part is getting all the work done on time to meet deadline and the flexibility once work has been prioritised.

Finance Recruiting Calgary
Contractor- accounting (Former Employee), Calgary – April 26, 2013
Pros: not much- great website
Cons: very unprofessional
They don't even bother to return my calls or emails on leads. They have such poor attitude ... unprofessional bunch. When you get through to them to ask questions, it's like you are bothering them. Worst experience working with recruiters in the Calgary market. I guess it depends also on the recruiters, the ones I dealt with previously were good, not – more... the current ones. Stay away if you can... – less

Hays is a recruitment agency
British Telecom Frames Engineer (Former Employee), South Wales – April 4, 2013
Pros: full time work
Cons: rolling one month contracts
I worked for British Telecom on behalf of Hays Recruitment, I worked in teams of two unsupervised in various BT Exchanges across South, West & Mid Wales running & connecting telephone & broadband wires. I learnt how to be a Frames Engineer working in hand with other BT employees to keep on top of a busy schedule working to strict H & S rules. BT management – more... & employees were always very helpful & supportive, I made many friends during my time there & keep in touch with my partner & many others from the company. Learning this new role was very difficult but i was given plenty of support & grew into the role quickly to become a trusted & competent member of the team. I got a great deal of enjoyment from travelling to various places of work meeting new people & having the trust of my manager to be left alone to do my work knowing that all work would be completed. – less

Pros: pay
Cons: i cant think of anything they did right .
I worked for hays once , quants baggage handlers STOLE items out of my bag , I asked if hays had a insurance policy and they never got back to me , over $500 in tech stuff.

would email saying urgent job come through and then never return my phone calls and email saying they hadn't heard back from the client , there are several jobs with my exp online but im told nothing , even when I ask if I have been put thru for that position .
