I helped my brother get a job here, I believe that HCL is a great place to gain some valuable experience, assuming you go into the campaign that suits you best. Benefits are good, pay rate is really bad, but overall work is not hard, at least not in my department.

Great Benefits, Bad Advancement
Senior Specialist (Current Employee), Columbus, INFebruary 24, 2015
Pros: manufacturing environment, network setup, contract positions
Cons: india gets all the love, all about the contract not the employee
Working for HCL America is a great option, don't get me wrong. They have been a good company to work for. Decent pay, great benefits but the management leaves a lot to be desired. The main company is based in India, so that is where all the internal promotions are and where all the internal support goes. It feels more like HCL America is the step child that they like having around but don't really care about.

The job is fun and exciting working in a manufacturing facility. Always something different to deal with on a daily basis along with the standard daily routines. A lot can be learned from the network setups and the requirements needed through a manufacturing environment.

Low Pay
Service Desk Analyst / Helpdesk (Current Employee), San Antonio, TexasFebruary 17, 2015
This job has low pay. If you want to work for USAA work for them directly. Otherwise you will not get payed much. This is an Indian company and overtime is half the going rate.

Cons: all of the above
Most SILOED/FRAGMENTED company I have ever seen. No real communication accross business units. Low pay, super small raises (not even keeping up w/ cost of living), PTO the worst I have ever seen for a company this size, Health/Dental/Vision, nothing special.

Employee First?? LIE
Senior Analyst (Current Employee), Cary, NCFebruary 12, 2015
Pros: meet new people that create lasting friendships
Cons: unfair, unhuman-like animal treatment
These people do not value their employees.
It's a blessing to come across a manager who really does care for their team, & that's a large part of the reason why most people hang in as long as they do. I've been promised two raises and each time there was an excuse when it was time to sign the new offer letter.
I got the complete run around because no one wanted to be honest about who was responsible for it.

Good Benefits, Not So Great Human Resources
Senior Analyst (Former Employee), Greenwood Village, COFebruary 4, 2015
Pros: benefits are great
Cons: management is scattered
I was outsourced into HCL by my employer. The benefits were really great, however HR was very difficult to reach and basic questions re payroll and policies went unanswered without a great deal of pressing. Communications were also very difficult due to their being based in India, both the time difference and the language barrier.

Sr Manager, WW Support (Former Employee), Hauppauge, NYFebruary 3, 2015
Pros: competitive salaries and benefits. cutting edge technology
Cons: senior management is based in india. language barriers and accents
HCL is a Research and Development company based out of India with branches worldwide. Responsibility includes: Change Management, Project Management, Support Operations, Product Management. I had the opportunity to lead cross functional calls for Product Launches, Support Readiness Plans, Customer Escalation Management and Vendor Management. HCL is a great company to work for. Employees were encouraged to be innovative and creative to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Better than most contracting companies
Program Manager (Former Employee), Redmond, WAJanuary 25, 2015
- Challenging jobs
- Company attempts to place you in another contract when your current contract ends. You aren't immediately "let go."
- Great health benefits.
- PTO is on par with other contracting companies.
- Lots of training available, but it's difficult to find.
- Equipment provided, but it's not the greatest.
- Difficult to get software licenses for development tools unless you're an SDE. Sometimes made my job challenging.
- Not as much autonomy as I would like.
- Internal tools and intranet are a royal pain. Too many tools to simple things. E.g. there's a timesheet tool, but you can't enter time off there. You have to use another tool.
- Internal processes can be very formal, requiring approval from one or more parties.
- They care about the employees, so some of the pain points are pretty tolerable.
- Very nice, new lunch room and newly expanded facility.
- Older part of the facility has terrible seating arrangements that aren't adjustable in any way.
- Desk phones aren't provided for most employees working at the facilty. You have to use your own cell phone.

It's an okay company if you don't mind being put on the bench when you least expect it (and hope you get assigned to another project)
SAS Technical Lead (Former Employee), San AntonioJanuary 18, 2015
Pros: co-workers are great. if you released from a project, you can be put on the bench until another project arises, but still get paid
Cons: no training to prepare for other assignments, can be let go at any time without warning or explanation
Depending on the client you assigned to, it can be a great experience. The hardest part of the job was making sure the client is happy with you. The co-workers I worked with there (before they left or were reassigned) were great.
