Hired under the pretense of being apart of a software programming "Dream Team".
Junior/Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee), Cary, NC – April 18, 2013
Pros: good lunch options, great area, great people to work with, very relax atmosphere, and well kept facility.
Cons: very slow start, lack of training, lack of projects, lacking truth with employees, and poor management.
A typical day at this job with no project is nothing but sitting around doing whatever it is to kill time. What I learned is if there is no projects available your job security is bare minimum, as they try to relocate you without the consideration of your current position with family and life obligations or try to push termination or quitting. Management – more... can be different based off of different projects but when it comes to visually or vocally seeing management is small. Co-workers is a great group to work with and different experience. The hardest part of the job is coming in trying to find something to do while you wait for a project to come in with limited web access due to security purposes. The enjoyable part of the job is actually working with the diverse group of co-workers specially on the projects and able to kill time while we wait on a project. – less

Will never do what you are hired to do
Project Coordinator (Current Employee), Cary, NC – April 18, 2013
Pros: hours are flexible despite me working crazy hours
Cons: they are understaffed and the amount of work is too much for one person
No work/life balance. Everything is last minute. No one takes accountability.

Good for experience, not for stellar pay
Service Desk Analyst (Current Employee), Cary, NC – March 20, 2013
This company let me get my foot in the door at a minimal pay rate but now doesn't want to give me any recognition for the work I've done in the past year. There is so much red tape to run through it seems a raise is impossible. There is also a lot of "on the fly" decisions by all levels of management and that causes tension among the supervised. People – more... are placed into management roles without training and the company has a pitiful pay scale. – less

Help Desk Analyst (Current Employee), Cary, NC – January 24, 2013
Pros: free gym/showers, nice facility
Cons: no movement/pay increases for 18 months after employment, generally low pay, poor morale
HCL is very willing to take employees with little to no experience, but that is how you will be viewed for the duration of your time there. Easy job, bearable management. Difficult to find co-worker that are still motivated to go above and beyond their duties. This is not a job from which to learn new skills, but rather to build up your resume.

Out of Touch
Investment Operations Analyst (Current Employee), Cary, NC – December 23, 2012
Pros: good benefits and stable job
Cons: let the american operations be ran by someone in america, get in touch with your "employee's first-customers second" slogan. right now, that is all it is, a marketing tool.
Every aspect of this company is controlled by India. On-sight HR, IT, and support are no help at all

No job security, little training
Data Center Specialist (Former Employee), Battle Creek, MI – December 12, 2012
Pros: good coworkers, fair wages
Cons: poor training, substandard manager
A typical day consisted of checking work requests, and repairing servers, switches etc..
I learned how to use SM7 work request software from HP and how to work on HP servers
The management was unfair, judgmental and very military like
My coworkers were pleasant to work with and helpful
The hardest part of my job was dealing with the unfair management
The – more... most enjoyable part of my job was figuring out the things that the training did not cover and working with my coworkers – less

HCL America
Technical Support Manager/Project Manager (Former Employee), Hauppauge, NY – November 14, 2012
Pros: flexibility to be innovative and explore new creative ideas.
Cons: lack of accountability at senior management level
Typical day at work
• Streamline processes, maintained quality standards and lower operational costs
• Analyzes new business requests against existing processes to create standard support operating procedures
• Analyze control reports and ensure SLO are met and/or exceeded customer expectations.
• Escalation point of contact for internal management – more... and third party vendors
• Implement suggestive resolutions, define and manage project life cycles according to PMO standards.
• Work closely with CA Sales on new program campaigns and entitlements. Review new support contracts, raise awareness on new support offerings.
• Work closely with Product Management and R&D on enhancement request, timely priority bug fixes and new features and functionality for CA Consumer product family.
• Participate in product launches and cross functional meetings.
• Managed support readiness plan. Conduct weekly meetings with Frontline Managers.
• Provide bi-weekly presentations to Senior Management on existing project (s) status and suggestive resolutions (new projects) for better customer experience.
What I have learned?
. I have learned to maintain deadlines, analyze spikes in support tickets and take corrective actions to mitigate. Maintain budgets, assign people to the right job, mitigate risks and escalate to stakeholders, people management, address third party concerns (escalations), follow up on any fixes provided by support team.
Co-workers: Very cooperative and team oriented. Eager to go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. Motivated by positive result.
Management: Important information not being shared or assignment being given last minutes for example adhoc reports. My management team is remote based out of India. Heavy accents.
Hardest part of the job:
HCL is a global company. Most of support, R&Q, QA is in India. Often had to ask people to repeat themselves because of the language barrier. Stakeholders from other GEO not showing up for cross functional calls or provide statuses on existing projects.
Most enjoyable part of the job: Speaking to customers (stakeholders, Front-line Managers and end users regarding their experience with our product and services, attend cross functional meetings for new product launches, escalating and follow up on new bug fixes. Successfully closed projects with minimum risks, meeting and working with new partners – less

Interesting company for junior and aspiring managers
Head of Marketing, Financial Services (Current Employee), New Jersey – October 7, 2012
Pros: autonomy, flexi time
Cons: politics, mis-managed expectations among the leadership
The company has a lot going for it. But the marketing function leaves a lot to be desired. Work culture is OK but work-life balance is hard to achieve.

Software Design Engineer in Test at Microsoft (Former Employee), Bellevue – September 19, 2012
HCL America is an ok company to work with. Management here in America is not that great. Recruiters are hard to catch. They don't pick up phone or reply emails. They only call you when they have an opening matching your skill set and someone shows interest in your resume. Rates are also not that great.

HCL Review
Senior IT Analyst Manager (Current Employee), Cary, NC – August 11, 2012
Pros: great place, benefits are great, pay is decent, not within what the economy is give, but yet not bad either.
Cons: promotions, movement, and pay raises
HCL is a great place, one place I wouldn't mind continuing to work in. The clients which they support can be very demanding. More demanding and needful, then most clients which I have worked with. Some request within these clients can be to much to handle, just really applauded HCL for sticking in within the contract date.
