HealthSouth Corporation (HealthSouth) is a provider of inpatient rehabilitative healthcare services in the United States. It operates inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and long-term acute care hospitals, and provides treatment on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. As of December 31, 2007, the Company operated 94 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, of which HealthSouth is the sole owner of 66 hospitals. It retains a 50% to 97.5% ownership in the remaining 28 jointly owned hospitals.
