Hebrew SeniorLife is the largest provider-based geriatric research facility in the United States. Hebrew SeniorLife has influenced the lives of millions of seniors through its research activities on osteoporosis, balance and falls, exercise, and other senior health issues. Hebrew SeniorLife ranks in the top 10 percent of all U.S. institutions receiving NIH funding.
Hebrew SeniorLife is one of the largest providers of supportive senior housing in Massachusetts. Hebrew SeniorLife's extensive continuum of services includes long-tem care; short-term, sub-acute care; medical acute care; outpatient services; research and teaching; senior housing; and adult day health. Hebrew SeniorLife has on staff as many or more geriatricians than some of Boston's leading teaching hospitals- and eight entire states, for that matter. Nearly one-third of the Hebrew SeniorLife work force has worked for the organization for 10 years or more. Hebrew SeniorLife serves nearly one out of four Jewish seniors over the age of 70 in the Greater Boston area. Hebrew SeniorLife trains nearly 400 students annually in medicine, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, creative arts and recreation therapy, and social work--more than any other long-term facility in the country. Hebrew SeniorLife is the only long-term care facility in the region with a dedicated unit for Russian-speaking seniors.
