I loved the clients I cared for as they were people I knew from my community. The staff was great and tried to keep a positive attitude, even in the harshest of work conditions. The physicians were kind and cooperative and understood the obstacles we often faced in regards to nurse:patient ratios and the acuity of those we cared for.
The typical day was like most with patient rounds, treatments and medications and constant monitoring and rounds throughout the shift.
They hardest part of the job was the actual work load - there were a lot of patients with a lot of needs that took up more time than we frequently had. Many times I would finish a shift feeling as though I had not completed all I needed to.
