As part of the company’s Business Operations Team, this role is responsible for the supply chain, planning, scheduling and coordinating the final manufacture of products through the production cycle in response to forecasted sales demand. The position coordinates supplier purchasing and production plans to ensure that materials are purchased according to schedules in order to maintain efficient utilization of production capacities to meet customer demand. This role works closely with customer service, marketing, production, quality assurance, contract manufacturing and sales departments to develop purchasing and production schedules, minimize inventories, review and minimize back order status, prioritize production orders and deal with other potential schedule interruptions or rescheduling.
The position is responsible for endeavoring to achieve JIT techniques and to help keep inventory levels as low as possible. In addition, the position strives to get economic build plans in place and ensure MRP reports are reviewed and actioned regularly. Promotes the highest quality standards to maximize customer satisfaction and achieve department and business unit goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Combines all sources of demand from forecasts and sales orders into a single statement of demand. The master scheduler then plans master production schedule and the MRP plan with all the demand combined.
2.Responsible for the global forecast process. Ensure all stakeholders are trained and compliant in all forecast cycles.
3.Chairs forecast and inventory planning meetings, collects and reports on all outstanding actions. Updates all stakeholders on risk and reward.
4.In response to sales and marketing forecasts, performs demand management/material/scheduling functions for all manufacturing operations including development of policies and procedures, training, review and maintenance of system data.
5.Manages suppliers, approval of new suppliers, contract manufacturing and overall purchasing plans
6.Leads the manufacturing scheduling process and develops strategies to continuously improve on-time delivery while managing inventory levels to maximize profitability.
7.Adjusts planning, purchasing and manufacturing processes to reflect significant changes in demand, trends or customer requirements and minimizes inventory levels of both components and finished goods.
8.Implements Just-In-Time scheduling and planning practices through the entire supply chain process.
9.Evolves and maintains documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems.
10.Prepare, report and communicate forecast and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, slow moving inventory, potential).
11.Proactively facilitates consensus between functional departments regarding: Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Finance and IT.
12.Responsible for planning and fulfilling Transfer Orders, Material Request and min/max levels between sites.
13.Other related duties as assigned by Management and/or Executive Team.
- CAPICS Certification of equivalent from a recognized technical institute in materials management.
- Extensive ERP/MRP knowledge and experience.
- APICS or SCM Management certification or equivalent
- Supply chain knowledge and management experience
- Working knowledge of procurement processes and techniques related to electronics manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the area of production planning, forecasting and scheduling.
- Solid background and experience in contract manufacturing environment.
- Proficient skill level in Microsoft Office Suite
- ERP tools required.
- Ability to handle high level of confidentiality regarding product/manufacturing information.
- Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision-making and organizational skills.
