Medication Collection Technician (Current Employee), Valencia, CA – July 1, 2014
Pros: i am able to scan my badge to eat, and it comes out of my check, if i don't have time to get my purse out of my locker.
Cons: health care
A typical day at my work, is interviewing the patient ,so I can get all the medication they are taking, there allergies and the pharmacy they prefer. After doing this,I input the information in the computer, while doing this, I make sure the dosage is not to much, so the patient will not get overdose. Then I put everything in accurately before the doctor – more... gets to the profile, so he/she can decided what medications he should give the patient, for their treatment, at our facility. I work in the emergency room, so I learned to have thick skin, stay focused, and move fast because the patients there are very sick and some pass away. I have to stay on track for the patients. The hardest part of the job, is to remain calm and don't get emotionally when you see the patients family crying, when there love ones pass away. The most enjoyable part of the job, is when I get all the medication inputted in the computer and emulated, in a timely manner, for the doctors. Then patient can get cared for and be able to go home feeling better. Another enjoyable part of my job, is when my co-workers and I work together and get the job done smoothly. – less
Student tech (Former Employee), Cardiology – January 1, 2014
Did my externship there and I did all my best, I was very hardworking and was able to get along with all my seniors there, I finished, sat for my licensure exams passed, only for them not giving me a job while all their techs were hired without being licensed. I have heard from so many people that I will not be given a job because I am colored, even – more... fom the mouths of their employees....sad...sad....sad.. – less

PBX Switchboard Operator (Former Employee), Valencia, CA – July 30, 2013
Pros: lunches were on a timely manner
Cons: when too busy i didn't get one break
My day at work consists of answering all phones in a timely manner, sometimes the calls have to be put on hold. Also doing overhead pages for Doctors, and codes, logging them properly. I answer are two way radio, if needed, when I get a call from security or engineering.. I am also asked from depts. to be transferred to different areas, which I do. – more... I have been asked by a financial counselor, to connect them with an over seas call, which I will do. I do a lot of overhead paging, plus anything that is asked of me., I learn how to handle people and there needs. Management try's to be on top of things They handle all situations, the way they feel is best.. My co-workers work right along with me. The hardest part is keeping up on all calls, if left alone. The enjoyable part is when you helped someone, and makes them happy. I enjoy taking my break, to get a little breather. – less
Radiology Technologist II, Per Diem (Former Employee), Valencia, CA – April 1, 2013
Pros: comfortable work environment, being able to arrange work days as needed
Cons: a few times i only had one day of work a week.
My position at Henry Mayo Hospital was a swing-shift per diem tech. I began there as an xray student and was lucky to be applying at the right time. Since i was both a student and an employee, I learned mostly everything in my career from Henry Mayo radiology department. The supervisors and co-workers were always helpful and the atmosphere was easy-going – more... - no tension among coworkers. As in every hospital there are busy days, there is not really anything I can say which has been too difficult. The most enjoyable part was providing patients with efficient xrays and services from the ER. There were many different situations that came through ER so it was always a new story. – less
Ultrasound Technician (Former Employee), Newhall, CA – February 27, 2013
Pros: amount of scans each day
Cons: the rude technicians
worked in the vascular lab as a extern. The techs. were very rude and not helpful in explaining procedures. I did learn alot about about arterial stress testing, C/W pressure tests, Vasc.Mapping for surgery AVF duplex, Graft procedures, and UE,LE vascular and arterial duplex Carotid scans, Reflux testing on superficial veins, etc. The techs were the – more... worst part of the job because of their unwilling- ness to teach! The best part was the amount of unusual scans that I saw on a daily basis, and working with the vascular Surgeon! – less
Clerical Volunteers (Former Employee), Valencia, CA – October 30, 2012
Maintain office files, records and various report, trancribe notes, update files as directed, copying of material, run errands for staff and assist as needed. I also answered phoned with the courteous and professional manner.
Rad Tech II/ Special Procedures (Former Employee), Valencia, CA – September 4, 2012
Loved the fact that most co-workers became very close. The small size of the hospital made it easy to get to know everyone. There was not a high turn over rate due to this, and I feel it was a better place for both the patients and the people who worked there because of this cohesiveness.
