A typical day at HFP is one in which all the brokers are working constantly to acquire new clients. The atmosphere is like that of a boiler room: phones are ringing off the hook, conversations on the phone last between 10 seconds and 10 minutes, and all the employees work tirelessly throughout the day, only taking a break for a short period of time. I learned much about a sales based job here. I cold-called many individuals of high net worth. I connected brokers to prospective clients, filled out client sheets, and researched trends in the market. The hardest part of the job was trying to keep a client on the phone long enough so that a broker could come and make the pitch. I learned information on bonds and how they operate in the market. The best part of the job was working with other young aspiring brokers in a team environment, yet also extremely competitive.
