Construction Project Manager (Current Employee) – Austin, TX – September 10, 2016
Great company to work for if your in search of a stable day to day career. Looking out for general well being of employees but not afraid to ask for 60+ hours of work a week without additional compensation. The typical day at work is always changing as a construction manager, could be mostly dealing with vendors, trades, or buyers depending on time of year, weather, or other situations that have arisen. Highland teaches how they want you to build. Management can be a bit micromanaging but most coworkers are pleasant, but part of the job is seeing a home created for a buyer knowing you helped make that place special. hardest part of the job can be dealing with difficult personalities.
SUPERINTENDENT (Former Employee) – Fort Worth, TX – August 16, 2016
in a typical day I was responsible for taking what was on paper and building the product in accordance to agreed contract. What I learned was regardless of cultural or social identity people take pride in what they are purchasing. Managing all aspects of interaction between those who are responsible for delivering the product on a time sensitive schedule was both enjoyable and challenging with issues arising beyond human control affecting scheduling requirements making it at times hard to continue to meet the deadline of delivery, however the enjoyment came when overcoming these obstacles and delivering a high quality product with high marks from the customer.
Loved working for this company. They had great people in management and guided the company along the good and bad times. Unfortunately they did not or maybe still do not hire their sales staff from with in. Strange for a company to teach the job and the culture but then say you have to leave the company to advance in their sales side.
