Worked various positions at Highline hospital; admitting, including the Emergency Room, Outpatient admitting, including insurance verification and receiving co-pays, also was internal and external switchboard operator which required calling codes, notifying police or fire department as required for each situation, as directed by security staff.
I learned Meditech and EPIC systems, how to verify insurances and co-pays, and improved my medical terminology.
I felt that my Supervisor tried to be accommodating at times, was very ineffective at confrontation. She had very little control over the work group.
The workplace was an ever changing culture. I enjoyed most of my co-workers.
The hardest part of the job was in the emergency room, working with some patients that were very violent, abusive or unclean.
Frequently would not all of the breaks.
