HIT Services Group (HITSG) has its roots in a successful Internet Service Providership (ISP), Gamewood Data Systems. Gamewood Data Systems was founded in 1991 by Drs. Frank and Dugan Maddux after developing one of the first laboratory electronic data interchange programs for the dialysis industry. Following this application development the company elected – more... in 1993 to develop the first local Internet access in Southside Virginia.
Concurrently, Gamewood Data founders Frank and Dugan Maddux recognized a need for a kidney disease information clearinghouse and established an Internet based portal called RENALNET. RENALNET was one of the first medical web sites in the world. RENALNET has been the recipient of many awards since its inception in 1994. In 1995, the RENALNET concept was reposited in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History.
As the Internet has grown, so did Gamewood. The IP networking division expanded to offer services in broadband technology and private networking and e-security services. The network now extends to include four data centers located in southern Virginia and a wide distribution of the Gamewood network throughout the region. Gamewood is now an emerging force in regional networking.
HITSG is the result of the research and development of the Acumen EHR application, a web-based software solution developed by Dr. Frank Maddux for clinical medical practices. The concept of an easily accessible patient medical record, combined with the lessons of information availability learned in the development of RENALNET, was a catalyst for the development of a robust set of tools for the practicing physician and medical organizations. This web-based solution has since matured to the point that it has been spun out of Gamewood into its own company, namely, HITSG. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
