Daily Work Life
Construction Technician (Current Employee), Round Rock, TXJuly 9, 2014
HNTB provides a very friendly and flexible work environment that makes going to work every day a pleasure. A typical day at work includes a lot of interacting with other team members, assisting with a variety of duties all for the purpose of delivering quality work that is on time, on budget, that is to the client's satisfaction. The most enjoyable part of the job is delivering quality work to our clients. It's very rewarding! The most difficult part of the job would probably be making the decision to leave.

Get experience here, then go somewhere else
Project Manager (Former Employee), Kansas City, MOJune 10, 2014
Pros: great projects
Cons: disconnected and indifferent management, hostile and unfriendly culture
Yes, their project list is impressive. That said, the utter indifference management shows its employees and the atmosphere it creates will suck the air out of your lungs, particularly if you're not a PE or in a support service. These joyless people kill spirit and initiative. Without these, what do you have? If you must work here, get the experience you need, get out and get on with the rest of your life.

Project Controls Analyst (Current Employee), Santa Ana, CAMay 16, 2014
Pros: professional work-life and latest technology
Cons: engineering career focused
This has been a great company to work for. They are client based and dependent upon work to keep workers employed. The corporate office is less dependent upon project billing and provides more security. In the field or local office where work is generated, job security is less.

A good place to start you career...Management not so great...
Transportation/Traffic Engineer (Former Employee), Milwaukee, WIApril 22, 2014
Worked there for 5 years and didn't enjoy it. I kept asking my supervisors for different, more rewarding work and they just kept telling me to stick it out and something will come. Company seems to care more about the money they bring in than the employees themselves. Management always seems too busy for the little guy...

They don't care about their consultants
Office Technician (Former Employee), Oakland, CANovember 15, 2013
HNTB wasn't a totally terrible company to work at, but they do not support their consultants at all in the field. I had 4 different managers in the span of 6 months.

I work here for 14 years and it was once a great place to work but not anymore. Greed and Egos have taken over. Those who have not left are looking.

Job with great potential, but maybe too strict.
Project Analyst (Current Employee), USAOctober 7, 2013
The job duties are great and present a great opportunity for self improvement and career advancement. However, there is this feeling that someone is always watching you, and that's because there is. Word will get around to your boss if you are seen on the internet even if you are just taking a quick 5 minute break to check on the news. You are paid hourly so you better find something to do or prepare to explain what you did the past hour, even if it's slow.

Enjoyed the work
Billing Associate II (Former Employee), Kansas City, MOOctober 2, 2013
Cons: no breaks, no communication with managment, no one to go to express concerns or problems
Very fast paced, high productivity, which I enjoyed. Management did not communicate with employees, did not care of the overload work responsibilities, did not want to listen to concerns or issues, if you did go to them with a concern they ignored you and if you were having a specific issue they just thought you were being "negative". there was no support at all, So the hardest part of the job was dealing with management.

Technology (Former Employee), DallasAugust 8, 2013
Pros: can't think of any
Cons: see review
pretty testosterone-driven mercenary culture. If they can find some company to rent you out to, you will have a job with them. When this cash flow stops, you need to leave.
