At Wellmont Health System, wellness is paramount. Wellmont Health System provides general and advanced medical-surgical care to residents of northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. The health system consists of about a dozen owned and affiliated hospitals that collectively have more than 1,000 licensed beds. One of its facilities is a rehabilitation hospital operated in partnership with HealthSouth. Wellmont also operates numerous ancillary facilities, including an assisted living center, a mental health clinic, home health care and hospice agencies, and outpatient centers. The health system was founded in 1996.
Wellmont has grown over the years primarily through acquisitions including Lee Regional Medical Center, Mountain View Regional Medical Center, and the Takoma Regional Hospital in Tennessee (through a partnership with Adventist Health).
Today, Wellmont is one of the region's largest employers with a staff of more than 6,500 medical professionals. Nearly 600 physicians deliver care at Wellmont's facilities that include eight hospitals in Tennessee and Virginia. Other facilities include an outpatient surgery center, a child development center, hospice, a cancer center, urgent care centers, and a health network of physicians that include occupational health providers.
The hospital also offers nearly immediate transport for its most urgent patient cases with its Wellmont One Air Transport. – less
