Exciting place to work.
Assistant Store Sales manager (Former Employee), Bakersfield, CA., Lewisville, TX., Denton, TX.September 18, 2014
Pros: the diversity of product.
Cons: short staffed sometimes.
Manage the store from one end to the other.
Managed all Departments as well as Specialty, and P&L and operations.
Management, I was one, some co-workers do well in their role and some not so much.
Short handed on a holiday and you are in charge of the entire store.
Challenges and the ability to be flexible with changes.

Cashier (Current Employee), Winston-Salem, NCSeptember 17, 2014
Cons: health benefits for pt employees, short breaks, managment
Fast! is a way to describe a day at home depot.

While working there I learned a lot about from my contractor customers as well as other. Like how to build a house, good garden techniques etc.

The hardest part is trying to get moved up or out of a certain department.

Productive but busy workplace
Contractor Services Sales Associate (Former Employee), Miramar, FLSeptember 17, 2014
When it comes to retail everywhere is busy. Customer service is always the priority. I've learned everything about painting, flooring, and contracting. Management changed often, but my final store manager improved store revenue and got employees a bonus. A lot of hard work, movement, and customer serving.

Pros and Cons
New Hire Coach (Current Employee), Southern CaliforniaSeptember 17, 2014
This company has made a lot of changes since I started 15 years ago. Employees are not paid as well as they once were and moving into a different position within the company is difficult unless you are part of the "in crowd." Over the years most of the people I have worked with, including management, have been great. The company has a great vision but – more... does not necessarily execute that vision in a way that would make most sense or be most productive. – less

Great working atmospher
Electrical Department Supervisor (Former Employee), Dahlonega Ga 30533September 16, 2014
Pros: great benefits.
Cons: retail work hours always working the weekend and not the same two days off each week.
Always learning something new each day was exciting and interaction with customers gives you a great respect for people and customer service. A typical day would be starting the day off with a safety check of your department, conduct a daily opening meeting to gather information and guidance for the day. Walk your department to prepare for customers – more... by making sure your area is fully stock, organized and clean. The middle of day you will be seeking customers to assist them in making their shopping experience one to remember. Management lead by example and set the atmosphere for being the number one home improvement retail in the nation. – less
