My work place is at the Home setting and some times at the office. Normally at the home setting, when i arrive on duty in the morning, i get report from out going nurse, check my patients vital signs, check the medication records for any changes or new orders, i read the summary of the previous nurse's notes, check with patients parent for any new instructions. Then i proceed to organizing my self and make a plan of how i am going to give care for the day, what activity to do first or last.then i provide care according to doctors orders. if they were any changes made , i call the office and communicate the changes to my supervisor ,.or call the Doctor to clarify any doubts.
At the office setting, the staff are so friendly and will answer to call of duty promptly.we have a culture of organizing Christmas party for the nurses who work at the home setting so that they can come to the office and share with others, each nurse is given a gift every year.
The hardest part of my job is when the patient cry's continuously and will not stop even when you do assessment and the vital signs are normal. i just enjoy when the patient is comfortable and happy. i also enjoy the Christmas parties a lot.
