Under immediate supervision, performs work of assisting drivers and other manual labor as directed. In performing the primary responsibility of assisting drivers, duties may include driving trucks of a ½ ton or more, where qualified, and forklifts, where qualified; unloading and loading furniture, product, equipment, or supplies; packing, wrapping, and protecting of household goods; routine vehicle maintenance. Work may include loading and unloading of warehouse storage vaults, general warehouse work, and packing material salvage. Grounds maintenance and other facility upkeep to include mowing, trimming, and digging should be considered occasional duties, when assigned, under this job description.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assigned, may review freight bills and shipping documents for accuracy and completeness.
Assist in loading and securing all moving equipment necessary for the job in truck/van.
As assigned, carefully wrap furniture in residence, fixtures with pads to prevent damage; shrink wrap all upholstered furniture in residence.
Pad, stack, and secure items in position on truck/van/vault to prevent damage during transport.
Load and unload truck/van/vault.
Assist in preparation of destination residence/office for delivery of goods.
Place and arrange furniture to customer’s specifications and satisfaction. May need to reassemble beds, mirrors, and/or shelves.
Assist in ensuring that company equipment is accounted for and all debris is removed from residence/office.
May need to remove door or window frames and may assist in erecting block and tackle on house and building to remove bulky items; requiring pulling of rope or cable on pulley.
May need to load or unload items relating to commercial or distribution accounts.
Report all work related injuries.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Less than high school education, or up to one month related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10′s and 100′s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
