Housing 21 is a major national provider of services for older people. We started life over 40 years ago as the Royal British Legion Housing Association and are a not for profit organisation with charitable status. Our mission is to improve people's lives by promoting independence and choice for older people through good quality care, support and housing. Housing 21:
owns or manages over 15,000 sheltered and extra care residential flats
is one of the largest providers of home care services in the country including generic, specialist and culturally appropriate services
is a driving force in the development of dementia services and specialist older people's mental health services.
We work with local authorities and other external stakeholders to create the kind of environments where people say they want to live. Our tenants and leaseholders benefit from enabling models of support in a non institutional setting and our extra care facilities act as centres for the local community.
Housing 21 continues to modernise and improve facilities by consistently delivering substantial programmes of new development and renovation. The association is an acknowledged leader in Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) and Private Public Partnerships (PPP) having recently begun the biggest sheltered housing contract ever signed in the UK and being named preferred bidder on another two significant projects.
Although Housing 21's roots are in housing, we have also become one of the largest providers of home care nationally in just nine years of operation, with a turnover in excess of £30m. Housing 21 received a 2 Star promising at the last Audit Commission inspection with real tenant involvement identified as a major strength. We have four green lights from the Housing Corporation, satisfactory supporting people ratings across the country and our Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) results in 2006/7 were excellent - we achieved or exceeded the required standards in all our core sites. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
