The whole organization was swell. It was a fun community service event that I would advise any school organization to participate in. Working around the kids was great.

Lead Housekeeper (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJune 9, 2017
Do not go into this place to get your foot in the door for another position. if you are a hard working individual you will get stuck on that position. I call it performance punishment.
Pros
pay and benefits are resonable
Cons
stressful and combative work environment

The Zoo is very busy during the week due to school kids and field trips. The hardest part is closing at the end of the day and the most enjoyable part is Zoo Lights.

Office Staff (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJanuary 9, 2017
If you enjoyed high school and the clique aspect then you will enjoy working at HZI. This Zoo has about 300 people which is like a small high school. The back stabbers have longevity and the rest leave. It's great to have on your resume but don't stay longer than 2 or 3 years or you get caught up in the game.
