Private research facility - great place for the right people
Senior Scientist, Ashburn, VA - February 10, 2013
If you are interested in basic scientific research, how the brain actually works for example, this is the right place for you. If you need a place to work that you understand the expectations every day; that your job is clearly defined and the future is understandable, then this may not be for you. This organization is purposefully vague, exceptionally lean from a hierarchical perspective, and changes focus on a dime. Management will allow you to make decisions with little guidance. Beware if you make the wrong call. You need to be a mind reader to get by. If you're a social animal and are happier spending time in this area, you should apply. If you prefer to keep your nose to the grind and get your job done, you'll get no extra points for this behavior. If you hang out at the pub after hours and socialize (maybe talk a little business, or science) you'll be seen as a solid contributor.
