Hudson Global (formerly Hudson Highland Group) offers specialty staffing and related consulting services through the regional businesses of Hudson Global Resources, which target the Americas, the Asia/Pacific region, and Europe. Hudson Global Resources provides temporary and contract personnel as well as permanent recruitment services. The company focuses on mid-level professionals in specialized areas such as accounting and finance, legal, and information technology. Among the company's clients are small and large businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions. Hudson Global serves almost 6,000 clients from about 80 offices in some 20 countries.
As a result of the recession, Hudson Global suffered three straight years of net losses (2008 through 2010). To weather the storm, the company has been making moves to trim operating costs and focus on its core business. It exited the markets in Italy and Japan as a result of suffering financial losses within those two regions. (Collectively, the markets of Australia and the UK represent almost 60% of the company's revenues each year.)
Hudson Global previously divested its energy, engineering, and technical staffing division belonging to its Hudson Americas regional business and sold the public management division of its Balance Ervaring op Projectbasis subsidiary.
Throughout 2010, Hudson Global reported increases in permanent placement activities, followed by an uptick in the demand for temporary contracting. At the end of 2010, the staffing company recorded a net loss of $4.4 million, a significantly lower number than the $43 million loss reported for 2009.
Formerly part of Monster Worldwide, Hudson Global, then called Hudson Highland Group, spun off and became an independent publicly trade company in 2003. – less
