REQUIREMENTS: A Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or behavioral or related science or an advanced degree in Industrial or System Engineering with course work in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or related and a minimum of 10 years total experience of increasing responsibilities and specialized experience in human factors. Aviation experience is required, while FAA experience is preferred. Must have experience in writing white papers. Familiarity with AMS is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs human factors engineering functions for air traffic control system operators and maintainers. Human factors expertise must have been achieved from performing applied human factors engineering projects in more than one acquisition life-cycle phase, i.e., strategic planning, concept development and requirements analysis, system design and prototyping, engineering and integration, human-in-the-loop (HITL) simulations, test and evaluation, integrated logistics support, and acquisition and life cycle management. Must be knowledgeable in techniques for performing human factors engineering-related tasks from two or more of the following: task analysis, requirements analysis; human factors engineering studies/analysis, human-system/component interfaces; function/motion of operation, design methodologies, switchology, structured analysis, equipment design/redesign criteria; equipment use and environment, automation principles for allocation of function; modeling techniques, supportability and logistics support, functional analysis, safety engineering, environmental engineering, use of robotics, usability studies, and interactions integrated product teams or multi-discipline design teams. Must have practical experience in providing extensive interaction with system/equipment designers, users, managers, programmers, analysts, logisticians, Air Traffic Controllers, ATC System technicians, and trainers to ensure a complete approach in providing comprehensive engineering solutions for the FAA National Airspace Systems. Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as provide guidance to other team members. Statistical knowledge necessary.
