I enjoyed working with humanim, however, I am used to a more fast paced environment, and so I spent a lot of time being bored. It is a great place to begin if you are just getting in the field of rehabilitation.

Great place for young people with degrees
Case Manager (Former Employee) –  MarylandJuly 28, 2017
Humanim has wonderful clients! Annual trainings were helpful. Management lacks communication and you are underpaid. Ok place to start in the field. A lot of young staff, which makes the workplace enjoyable. Management also tends to gossip a lot so be aware of who you talk to. Difficult to move up in the company.
Pros
Pto, Always learning new things, Staff appreciation day
Cons
Benefits, Lack of communication & diversity with the management, job responsibilities aren't always taught

Case Manager (Current Employee) –  Baltimore, MDJune 24, 2017
Upper Management is completely disconnected from staff. Definitely a "mean girls" environment. The hardest part of the job is trying to provide services with limited support. Pay is minimal, 6 paid holidays a year and insurance benefits recently adjusted -- not in a good way.
Pros
There are some nice people.
Cons
No opportunity for advancement, Management does not care about direct service employees, Extremely low pay scale.

Rehabilitation Counselor (Part Time) (Current Employee) –  Columbia, MDJune 21, 2017
I work for Humanim part time. I do not have any major issues or concerns with the agency. It has a very laid back work atmosphere. The pay is not great for full time employees but they do try to give annual 2% increases to compensate for low salaries.
Pros
Nice work environment
Cons
low salary

Flexible but impossible to move up if not part of work place politics
Underpaid Employee (Former Employee) –  Columbia, MDMarch 19, 2017
There are pros and cons to working for Humanim. The pro is the flexibility in work schedule...no one was really clock watching or breathing down your neck. On the other hand it felt as if the possibility for career advancement was hindered if you did not socialize with certain individuals...this is not a place for career advancement if you do not care for work place politics...or if you can maneuver in such a way, it might be a good fit. You can fly under the radar here and be okay...but just okay.
Pros
The flexibility in work schedule
Cons
The work place politics, expcting you to do things that are no where relevant to your initial job description, the pay is miniscule for the work you do and not being appreciated for the work that you do.

Manager (Current Employee) –  Baltimore, MDFebruary 27, 2017
Great place to learn how the interworking of human services, programs and how to best engage with consumers with services and supports. However, management needs to learn how to better reach their employees through enhancing their employment engagement activities to keep employees motivated to do their best.

The flexibility is a huge advantage to work here however the pay scale needs work.

Employment Consultant (Former Employee) –  Columbia, MDJanuary 18, 2017
It's a piece of cake to get hired. You'll soon realize the work load is TOO much because the constant turnover means you're always covering for someone else. The staff & low level managers are expected to do everything while Directors and VPs ride easy blaming issues in the various programs on suspecting staff/managers, instead of designing real solutions. Not breakfasts/cookouts/awards but actual solutions.

The job culture/compensation/benefits are probably great for individuals just starting out to get work experience in human services. Employees who understand the difference between functional and dysfunctional environment, however, will probably leave after 1-2 years. Programs implemented were not well planned and the more responsibility you take on the more you realize, behind the scenes the company leadership are blissfully dysfunctional.

Case Coordinator, Individual Support Services (Former Employee) –  Baltimore, MdOctober 1, 2015
You make your own schedule.
Salary is NOT commensurate with work load. You will probably still need someone to co sign for your new place or car.
Mileage reimbursement won't make up for the gas or wear & tear on your vehicle.
If you know the right folks...great. If you don't....not so great.
There are a few great folks in Baltimore.
Humanim does have some good perks. Monetary awards for every year employed with the company.
Great holiday party.
Pros
Making a difference in a disabled person's life.
Cons
If you're not IN with the right folks, you will NOT be upwardly mobile, in position or salary
