Senior Therapy Program Assistant, Clinton, New Jersey - August 30, 2015
It takes a special person to be able to care for individuals with developmental disabilities. The environment is not like what one might expect coming from a different background. A typical day at work includes interacting with the adult individuals. Corresponding with team members to deliver the best care for each person. I learned to have even more compassion for strangers. Sometimes it can be difficult to work with many different people from various backgrounds. What makes it easy at Hunterdon is that we are all there for the individuals who call it home. Hardest part of the job can be dealing with certain behaviors from the individuals. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing you make a difference everyday in the lives of others who are incapable of taking care of themselves.
